Are you having a bridal party?

111107, on January 7, 2022 at 10:38 PM Posted in Planning 1 19
Okay, so I don’t have close gfs. Im only super close to my sisters. I know my fiancé wants groomsmen, so I feel obligated to ask their girlfriends to be in my bridal party…. But I’m not close them; more acquaintances than anything.

Don't feel obligated to put them in your bridal party. Do you want to ask your sisters to be bridesmaids? I'm having my two sisters and my daughter stand with me.

Thanks! That’s so special 😍I’d love to have my sisters beside me 💕 I might ask them. I’m still kinda back and forth.

Never ever do anything out of obligation. If you are BFFs with your sisters, then that’s all you need. A wedding party can be 1 person on each side if that’s all you are super close to.

You don’t need to ask the girlfriends at all! It’s ok to have uneven wedding parties, so that’s not an issue. If you want your sisters, ask them! I would wait until 6 months before the wedding to ask anyone though.

I'm not doing an official bridal party and just having a 'bride tribe' a group of girls that are my support team, help plan showers/bachelorette, and gave each of them matching scrunchies to wear on their wrists at my wedding to symbolize they're my girls. They were actual super thankful to not have to spend extra money and can wear whatever they wanted and do their hair/makeup however. After all this is a celebration of you and your life partner.

If you’re really wanting to have the significant others in your wedding party try hanging out with them more or do double dates to get to know them better!

Exactly! I wouldn't mind a little tea party brunch with my Mom and sisters. That is fine by me! Less drama for sure

I would not feel like you have to put them in your wedding. My future sister in law's did not include each other in their weddings, so don't feel like you have to put girlfriends in the wedding.

I would ask your fiance how many he would like to include and go from there. If he would really like groomsmen, I would ask your sisters. If he could go either way, just decide if you guys want to go without a bridal party.

My fiance and me do not have a bridal party at all. We have two witnesses; his brother and my best friend. But we aren't considering them a groomsman and bridesmaid. They are wearing what they want and just standing with us. We are also having more of a microwedding....

We weren't really planning on having a bridal party, but we decided to have our brothers and their wives. We wanted to keep it simple and didn't have to deal with any drama from people who weren't chosen that way.

I am definitely having my bestie as MOH and was planning on 2 BMs but this may change with our new change of plans. FH has Best man only. We were going to do a lopsided party - which I got the idea of from here
