Are you hiring a caterer or providing self prepared food?

Caroline, on May 13, 2019 at 2:54 PM Posted in Virginia Planning 1 1
I am still searching for venues and while some of the options offers catering services, two of my favorite locations don't. My wedding is on a budget. I am planning on DIY everything I can, so I imagined that if I provide all the food it would be cheaper than hiring a caterer. But then again, thinking about all the work and stress preparing food for 80-100 people would add, paying more for the catering services sounds worth it.

What are your plans for food (caterer, preparing it yourself, etc...)? Any suggestion on caterers that have a good (cheap) price but that serves great food? I live in Northern Virginia and the venues I am searching are between Ashburn, VA and Warrenton, VA.

Hey Caroline! I certainly think that having a caterer take care of the food is worth it when you are going to have so much to organize as your wedding date draws in. That being said, wedding catering does not have to be the traditional 3-course meal that people initially envisage, it can vary greatly depending on the style and tone of your wedding, like a buffet or different food stations. Have you thought about what type of meal you would like to have? You could check out the WeddingWire vendor search for Virginia Wedding Caterers and if anything stands out to you.

You could also think about caterers that don’t position themselves as ‘wedding caterers’ like Italian food or BBQ.
