Are you inviting everyone who asks?

We invited who we actually wanted there, but know others show up. But we are only providing chairs for those who are invited, the rest can stand in the back. The only exception is if we somehow accidentally skipped someone.

That has been hard for me, I dont want to hurt anyone's feelings. Since our list started small and we had a max number in mind as long as we stayed below that we included them. Most were people I was unsure wanted to come.

If they have to ask, they probably shouldn’t be coming. I know I’m friends with two handfuls of people. I would expect to be invited to 3-4 weddings. That’s pushing it.

Nope. I haven't had anyone ask yet, but I would say we are at guest capacity at the venue. I just hope FH's mom hasn't gotten any of those questions and hasn't told anyone they can just come. If so, they won't have a seat or dinner since we are doing a plated dinner.

My FH is the one who wants to verbal invite people. 🤦‍♀️ We agreed from the start that we only invited the people we deemed most important, set our limit and if we ended up under, so be it. We ended up WAY under. We invited 170 and only 110 RSVP'd yes... we paid our caterer the deposit for 130 heads (because we could always add but not subtract). I honestly like having something a bit smaller... he just kept adding.

Most of our declines were my side, so when he says he wants to invite more people (people hes not even close to, he hasn't hung out with in years, and I dont know), it hurts my feelings that he wouldnt ask if there was anyone I left out since they were my spots (we split the list almost even).

Yes but only after we invited the ones we really wanted to be included.

Thankfully, we did not have any acquaintances fishing for invites.

What's funny is there was one person who kind of asked or joked about it and I ended up saying sure why not because we became closer recently

Nope, no way no how. My fiance's grandmother tried to invite some friends and we had to tell her no.

If someone in my family or my future in-laws were asking to invite their friends i would probably agree if it was under my guaranteed guest count. anything over that i would then ask that person if they wanted to pay for their friends plates

That's just rude in my opinion. Family or not. Don't invite other people to MY wedding. haha
