Are you moving to a new city/state after you get married?

FutureMrsHill, on August 7, 2017 at 10:24 AM Posted in Planning 0 29

Hello There!

After I get married I am moving to Northern Virginia. FH's home state. I am extremely nervous but I am also ready to start my new life. Is anyone else moving? How are you feeling about the big move? Are you moving before or after you get married?

FH and I have bounced the idea of moving back to his home state, but all of his family moved to my state this last year. I would love to move to have a new adventure. It is still a bit scary to think about.

I did! I moved from Kansas City to Texas, and I was excited until it came to job search. I haven't gotten a single call yet, but all in all, Im excited to finally be in the same home and city as FH instead of in a long distance relationship. Ivr been married nearly 23 days, and he has given me permission to take time to find my perfect/dream job. Good luck to you!

FH and I might be making a cross country move (Virginia to Arizona) in the spring for his job and I'm already freaking out. The thought of moving that far away just terrifies me, but we really can't miss out on this amazing job opportunity.

@CoolKat- It is very scary but I am ready

@Shana- Congrats! FH and I are in a long distance relationship as well. I can't wait to come home and see him everyday. Thinking about that helps me a lot with a moving process.

Yes, and I'm totally nervous/excited!!! I'm moving before the wedding... next week! We've been distance for a long time and I'm excited to end that and start our lives together! I'm definitely nervous though. New job, new state, new people... it's a lot! I'm glad to hear you're nervous too. Sometimes I get worried that I shouldn't be feeling that way, but it is a big deal! Best of luck to you :-)

We may be moving after FH finishes school. He's going into an industry that there's jobs close but there are better paying ones in other provinces. It's okay though, I have an extensive network of friends and family in all the places we could choose to end up, so we'd already have a social network.

I'm not moving but I just wanted to chime in because I used to live in the DMV area and NoVA is awesome! If you haven't already go to the Alamo Drafthouse in Ashburn, it's my favorite movie theater in the world.

FH and I have been throwing around the idea of moving but are completely unsure about it. Little back story.. My family and I have been going to Cheyenne, Wyoming for a week of vacation during Cheyenne Frontier Days for almost 20 years. We thought about moving to Laramie, Wyoming probably around May 2019 (I work in Accounting, so I couldn't leave until after tax season) but with the closet family members being 9 - 10 hours away it was a little nerve racking. Especially with the fact that we are wanting to start a family of our own shortly afterwards and would want them to be around for our kids growing up and everything that comes with that. It is definitely a hard decision to make..

We are moving cities this weekend but not very far just moving to a sister city. Our big move will be in May of 2019......might end up moving to Europe or across the country or world. We won't find out until next year. FH is military. I am nervous but who wouldn't be but I am also excited just to see what new adventures we will have!

We are moving to the other side of Chicago, flying to Georgia to get married, going on a cruise and coming back. We probably should've moved when we got back but oh well. Money is spent now.

FH and I moved to a new state recently for a job relocation. We both love it. I also kind of like that it's just the two of us here right now.

@Shana Congrats you're married now so he's no longer you're FH!

Fh & I have moved several times. We have lived together since college. We moved to Pittsburgh fall of 2013 (we went to school in a little town outside of Erie PA, two hours north of Pitt). We lived there for two years and then moved to Buffalo NY. We hated it and left right after a year (I am originally from Rochester NY and we wanted to be between both families). Now we are back in Erie PA (FH is born and raised) and do not see ourselves moving for quite a while (if ever). Moves are scary, exciting and stressful all in one. We always moved for jobs for me, as I continued to grow as an accountant I wanted more challenging jobs. Now we both have good careers and a network of friends in all different cities. Its tough, but fun and exciting. Good luck!

We're moving somewhere, but won't know until we get our final grad school admission results. Eek! Could be Colorado, Wisconsin, Oregon, or Vegas. It's killing me not knowing

We moved out of state for a year which was an adventure. I'm from DC - the biggest thing to get used to is the cost of living. Housing is ridiculous.

I live in Northern Virginia! You'll be okay! I'll be a military wife so we will be moving lots. It's scary but just emerge into the new location and you'll do great!
