Are you moving to a new city/state after you get married?

Hello There! After I get married I am moving to Northern Virginia. FH's home state. I am extremely nervous but I am also ready to start my new life. Is anyone else moving? How are you feeling about the big move? Are you moving before or after you get married?

We're entertaining the idea of moving to my home state of Illinois after FH finishes up his degree. I'm excited! I have a lot of family there and I'm hoping my parents will follow us.

I'm not nervous about it at all since we moved from Georgia to South Carolina for my job. We're used to moves!

I met FH in college. His family lives near the college (grandparents and aunts but parents live about an hour south). I moved about 20 miles north after college and he followed me. With the wedding and thinking about settling down with kids in the next few years I'd like to move back to my hometown which is 200 miles south of where we are now. I'm from a big city and he is from the country and he is willing to move, his job will transfer him. But I absolutely love my job, I teach at a school for autism and I love the community and people I work with. However I want to be back with family, its a hard choice. If we do it we will move about 8 months after the wedding but we could wait it out another year so it would be a year and 8 months after the wedding.

Yes! We have both always lived in PA. I was in other places around the US when I was in the military, but I've never had the opportunity to start a new life somewhere else. We're currently in Pittsburgh, PA but will hopefully be in Boulder, CO or San Diego by August of next year. So excited!

We are getting in married in November, FH is graduating with his PhD in January, and we will be moving to Boston next June for his post-doc! It's not too far from where I am now, but I have always been very close by to my parents/family, so it'll be very different for me! Also, being a teacher, I am currently working on getting my new certification in MA (CT's doesn't count there...) Definitely a little nervous about the whole finding a job and finding a place to live situation, but I have faith that it will all work out. Smiley smile It excites me that we will be starting this new adventure together as husband and wife!

I love NoVa it reminds me of Boston in a way. I am very close to my family, I will miss seeing them all the time. FH and I have been in a long distance relationship since we've graduated from college. So I am very excited to live with him. I'm nervous about finding a new job as well, but I believe things will work out!

H works in college athletics so we move around a lot. We've lived in Orlando, Boston, and Cincinnati in the last 4 years. He's nearing the end of his time here so is actively looking for the next position. He has an interview with a school in New Orleans this week but has apps in for Dallas and a school in California (I forget where). We'd likely be moving by the beginning of September since that's the start of football season.

Moving around has it's drawbacks. It's stressful for me to find new positions but I work in social work so that's always needed. It's also difficult to build strong, lasting relationships. But I still love experiencing new cities beyond what you can as a tourist.

We're both planning. Can anyone recommend any moving companies? Or tell anything about https://www.flashmoving.net/ ? I'd be happy to get any advice.
