Are You Renting Table Linens? HELP!

on August 13, 2011 at 4:51 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 17

Are any of you renting table linens for your reception? Are you doing it through a local party rental place? Are any of you renting them through an online website? If you are renting them via an online rental place...which would you suggest?

Again, lost when it comes to linen rentals, but my Mom really wants to give the reception tables some pizazz.

Just looking for some input =D Thanks ahead of time

I will be renting mine from this online website: http://www.bbjlinen.com/

I've read a lot of good things about them and they have a big selection. But I have not used them myself...yet!

We are renting our through a local place. The women who owns it and is handling the linens for the day of my wedding is so amazing. She has been very helpful. If you were local I would HIGHLY recommend her. One of the up sides to renting from a local place is that they will set up everything and take it down so you don't have to. Renting from online you would to make sure this all gets done yourself and worry about getting it all back etc.

Do them locally; they'll be less wrinkly and you'll not have to worry about shipping which is A LOT of money. IMHO, linen is one of the easiest ways to add color and class to your reception.

We are buying them. You pay almost the same price as renting them and you can always sell them you get a good portion of your money back. We are buying it from here:

I am not sure about what the prices are in the local area, but in my area the price to buy them is just about the same price to rent them. Even if I buy them at $12 a piece and sell them for $6 or $7, I basically rented them for $5 or $6 bucks. Also, we are doing this because we want color tablecloths and not white tablecloths.

Keep in mind all the labor that goes into buying your own tablecloths vs. renting them.

    1. They will come very wrinkled, which means having to hard press each and every one of them.

    2. Cleaning is not always as easy as it seems. You regular laundry soap does not always get out lipstick stain on napkins, grease from plates, coffee stains etc. If they are stained at all you wont be able to resale them.

    3. Your time. Did you know food stains need to be treated/soaked within 24 hours to avoid stains? That means you or someone else will need to make sure all the napkins and tablecloths are cleaned within 4 hours after your wedding to avoid set in stains.

The time you spending ironing, setting ups, cleaning etc may not be worth the few dollars you save buying them.

For example, our colored floor length linens rent for $13 each (including shipping) and we handle the cleaning and we are only $2 more then http://www.tableclothsfactory.com/default.asp

    Just food for thought.

The come with the venue, and I get about 50 colors to choose from. So I have no idea. I would try ebay and see if you can find some there. Or craigslist.

@Kennedy. That post put a lot into perspective. Thank you. Going to definitely look into renting vs buying. Smiley smile.

I purchased mine. They were much cheaper for me to purchase than rent. In the end, I didn't need that many, and bought twice what I need- but I plan to resell them.

To avoid food stain problems, my linens are black.

I rented them through my florist. It actually ended up being only $14 a table with a small set-up and late night tare down fee. Besides, I won't have to bother any friends or family to take everything down. I'm all about saving money but conveinace is a HUGE factor for my guests at my wedding. I want them to have a good time and not have to worry about a thing except for celebrating all night!!!

Our reception hall has a hookup with a place... I had checked with this place before knowing that they were incorporated with my hall and found out through the hall its a 1 dollar cheaper per an item. Its saving us roughly 500.00 by doing this.

I searched and hunted for the best place. I finally found a lady on craigslist with great prices. She started a small rental company and her prices are unbeatable.

Our reception site has 50 colors to choose from but we're also buying vintage table cloths to use as overlays. We're having them pressed and cleaned at a local dry cleaner for about $40 for all 30 of them. Coupons and Ebay. Doesn't get any better than that!

Your mom is absolutely right. It’s probably the most special day of your life and you would want everything to look and feel perfect. Linen will add a touch of class and elegance to the furniture and can make even the plainest of wedding venues come alive with colors.

I suggest you consider getting spandex table covers. Because of the stretchy fabric, these covers will fit snugly on the tables and remain in place. Much better than loose covers that refuse to stay in one place, I’d think.

If you’re thinking of renting them out online, then you must check out Sculptwareonline.com. They have a wide range of table covers you can choose from. In fact, their website has an interactive tool you can use to create your own design by mixing and matching the various colors and patterns available.
