Are You Soldering Your Rings Together?

Are you planning to solder your rings together, or do you plan to leave them separated? I have heard of people soldering their rings, but I don’t actually know anyone who has done this. When I first went to the jewelry store to look at/try on options for wedding bands, the lady at the jewelry store we went to kept pushing the idea of soldering them, and kept telling me rings I was looking at wouldn’t work with my engagement ring because they couldn’t be soldered together. When I told her I did not plan on soldering them, she looked at me horrified. Personally, I don’t like the way rings looked soldered together. And I would also like the option of wearing only my wedding band on days that I don’t feel like wearing a big diamond engagement ring. I didn’t know soldering rings was that big of a “thing”. Is everyone planning to solder their rings, or are you planning to leave them separate?

Is it really?? Well, they definitely nailed it! Are you going to include NBC in your wedding decor?

There will be hints but going for more of a classic goth look more hints of halloween/NBC at the reception

Yes! It’s great being able to interchange the looks.

I completely relate to this – I am constantly terrified I am going to lose my ring! I am also not a “jewelry person” so it is not second nature for me to keep track of rings. Especially with Covid, I am washing my hands all the time, and fear I will leave it on a sink somewhere. I don’t know how many moments of panic I have had when I realize my ring is not on my finger because I put it in my pocket to wash my hands or apply lotion and forgot to put it back on, or just forgot to put it on that day!

No plans to solder here, for all the reasons you said - I like the flexibility of being able to wear one or the other as I choose. And, especially if we have a baby down the line, I might not want to wear/be able to fit into the engagement ring as easily as the wedding band whilst pregnant, and after the baby has arrived you might be worried about scratching bub if they flail around and hit your ring - I don't know. I just think the pros of leaving them unsoldered outweigh the pros of soldering them Smiley smile

This is a thing, but not one that I would do. There are reasons you do not want to be wearing a diamond ring but you’d probably still want to wear your wedding band (like if/when you have a baby…diamonds + delicate skin is a bad combo).

My grandmother had this done; I can't say I know anyone that's done it other than her. I wouldn't do it...but it kinda makes sense to.

I had mine soldered as soon as we got back from the honeymoon. My wedding ring only has diamonds on half of it so now I don’t have to worry about it spinning around and having the diamonds face towards the palm of my hand. My engagement ring isn’t too big or anything so I don’t mind wearing it all the time. If I went to the gym or something, I wouldn’t wear my wedding band anyway. I’d wear my silicon ring that others have mentioned. I guess soldering isn’t for everyone, but it works for me. ☺️
