Are you wearing foundation?

LadyHopkins, on January 30, 2012 at 4:03 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 18

I have been thinking of skipping the foundation because (1) its probably going to be pretty warm at an outdoor May wedding (2) I don't want to get any on FH during dancing, kissing, hugging, etc. I still would wear eyeshadow, blush, mascara, eyeliner and lip gloss. I have pretty good skin but my mom seems to think that I should wear foundation for the occasion. I really don't want to. What do you think? This is me with no makeup.

You should do whatever makes you feel comfortable in.

    I agree with @Abby ^^

The last thing I want is to be uncomfortable on my wedding day!

You should wear it since it helps hold the blush and eye shadow on but talk to a makeup artist and see what they say

Foundation also gives sking that exta glow(shine) that not all that great in pictures. If you are going to be outside, I would say go without. I remember my friend's wedding, someone hugged her, and got their foundation on her dress:-(

Have you thought about having your makeup airbrushed?

Bad bad bad idea! Foundation evens your skin tone. And makes your photographer's job much easier when it comes to retouching your pictures.

You really shoudl consider hiring a professional make up artist. They can do air-bursh makeup that will look flawless and not come off. If you are going to do it yourself, you need to get a quality foundation and make sure you prep your face properly and apply the foundation properly. If you do that- it wouldn't be coming off...

Look at the picture you posted. You are very pretty, and have pretty skin. But look at the skin tone. It's uneven. You have reflecton from shine. Please don't be offended by that- because pretty much every human being on the planet has the same thing.

If your going to do it on your own, look into the Revlon Colorstay line and test it out on a white cloth. It should stay for the most part and not rub off. But also, once you do your foundation and finish your makeup, set it with a makeup finishing spray. Oh yeah, also use a face primer before your foundation to hold all your makup in place.

But airbrush is a good idea also.

You have great skin, but wear foundations. As ladies said, it evens out your skin tone, the other makeup will stay longer, and it photographs better. It won't come off if it's any reasonable quality.

You have gorgeous skin but definitely wear foundation! It photographs a lot better and it will provide an even canvas for your other makeup. Try putting on a foundation primer first and just use a very small amount of foundation. Dust your face with finishing powder or mist when you're finished and you shouldn't have too many issues with it rubbing off.

Your skin looks great without it .. but if you want, you can also do airbrush make up .. that is what I am going to do it .. I'm going to try to do it on my own (if i can ever find the foundation without buying the airbrush) I saw on youtube how you can apply it on your own with a sponge, so if i can find that, airbrush will be.. it stays on longer & dont smear

Definitely wear it! even though you have great skin, it will look so much more even and prevent a shiny or washed out look. a good mua will use good products, and it won't come off that easily.

You have really nice skin, however, the camera is fickle beast. Ask your makeup artist to use longwear or photo specific makeup. You can also use a primer to stop the shine factor. Personally I like Makeup for Ever, or Bare Essentials primer. If you don't want to spring for that here's a tip I picked up from stalking the drag queens youtube channels:

monostat anti-chaffing gel. Seriously. This stuff has the same ingredients as NARS and Makeup For Ever and it goes for less than half the price.

My only advice is that your wedding day is different then your every day makeup. The bride pictured in my profile pic to the left got married in Cancun Mexico in May. It was 98 degrees that day. I used a liquid primer, liquid foundation using a sponge to press it into the skin versus "painting" to much on, set it with a loose translucent powder (love makeup forevers and mac's) and used a setting mist on top of it. Her makeup stayed on from 11am to midnight with out one touch up and a lot of dancing and sunshine. No rub offs on anyone or her dress. She also had gorgeous skin but again, its your wedding day and you want to look back at those pictures and think you looked fabulous. Smiley smile

You are absolutely beautiful, and you will absolutely need a foundation (cream, liquid or mineral) to make sure your beautiful face will photograph well. If you don't like the idea of a creamy substance on your face during a warm season, try this: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product560.html. It works like magic, especially over good foundation primer! Your skin will look matte and even-toned, just don't forget to spray your face with Model-in-a-Bottle makeup setting spray when you are done: http://forprincessbride.com/store/product2.html. This will keep your makeup "going" all day until you are ready to take it off! Enjoy!

I think you have gorgeous skin and wouldn't need any. I plan on getting married in the summer also and am planning to skip the foundation and just go with powder. I have found that foundation especially liquid feels super hot and sticky when the temp is above 80-85 (we usually have very humid weather tho as opposed to a dry heat and summer doesn't last very long here either) Either my MOH or I will be doing my make-up.
