Are your venues charging to reschedule in Nj?

Natasha, on January 16, 2021 at 4:57 AM Posted in New Jersey Planning 1 9
For those rescheduling your weddings in NJ, are your venues charging a fee? Has anyone found a workaround for this? We are getting married at the Versailles Ballroom in Toms River. For 2020, they were rescheduling with no problems. Now, they are charging per plate if we want to reschedule. Our wedding is in April and I feel like that is completely insensitive given where we are with covid. Especially in NJ.

Per plate?? Yikes!! I have heard of other venues charging a fee to reschedule, but this is the first I've heard of a per plate fee!

Is that their blanket policy, or will they re-evaluate as you get closer to your wedding date?? Especially if local restrictions prevent your plans!

At the moment, its their blanket policy:/ They said they will reevaluate if things ease up or loosen.

We are looking at possibly have to reschedule again as well. The first time there was no fee but this time around we are waiting on confirmation if it will just be a price increase or a price increase along with losing out on our deposits if we postpone for more than 6 months from our original date

Oh no, losing out on your deposit??!! Does that mean you will have to repay that money?

Unfortunately yes if they don’t allow us to book more than 6 months from our date without the penalty. We are okay if there is a price increase but having to pay the increase and lose out on the deposits would def impact our decision

I actually just heard back from our venue and they will transfer the deposits and we would just have a 10% increase if we move to next year. Such a relief!

But now our florist seems to have gone out of business and has ghosted me and all her clients. Us Covid brides have it rough!
