Hannah, on January 2, 2017 at 12:38 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 10

I'm planning on making my centerpieces and bouquets myself with artificial flowers for my wedding. Pros? Cons? Thoughts? Advice?

Anything helps!!

Artificial flowers almost always look fake. The ones that come close to real are more expensive then actual flowers. Unless you are wanting them to be fake like wooded or made from book pages, I recommend looking at inexpensive options for real flowers like Sam's, Costco, or your local grocery store and just do in season flowers or roses

Hi, I am getting married on 8/26 too and was thinks no of using fake flowers. Sometimes fake is the way they go. There are times where you can't really tell the difference, and definitely a money saver. Good Luck!

Fake doesn't necessarily mean cheap. If you do the cheap fake flowers, it's going to look bad. Try going to a local grocery store that has a florist. I'm going there in the next week or so to talk to the person who does flowers. A friend of mine got hers from there and it was just under $500 for all the bouquets, bouts and centerpieces.

The pro of fake flowers for me is allergies. FH and I have horrible allergies.

However, with that being said good fake flowers are not necessarily cheaper than real. I have probably spent $700 just to fill vases.

Doing it yourself is also A LOT harder than it looks. Watch lots of tutorials if you plan to do this yourself.

    Good Luck!

Please do not do DIY real flowers unless you have some type of experience with them. It's a ton of work.

I did my own flowers, and knew what I was getting into. I'm by NO means a pro, but I have done several weddings in the past – and flowers are a passion of mine, I knew working with them would really calm me down prior to the big day.

If you search like, "JamieLynn's 1000 flower" a thread should come up that shows my diy process.

    Tons of work. ETA- words

Thanks girls!!! I have 20 centerpieces so that's why I was thinking artificial flowers because I knew how pricey it would be for real flowers!

I absolutely love my artificial flowers. I went with real touch calla lily and roses. They're sort of latex and look real. Michaels has their flowers 40% off and $5 off every $20 you spend. I ended up getting some pre made rose bouquets for $9 a piece. (Not real touch but look a little more real than typical fake flowers) Definitely check into it. I have horrible allergies too.

I'm doing fake flowers for my small centerpieces and miscellaneous decorations around the reception, but I'm using real flowers for the ceremony.

If babies-breath works with the flowers you are wanting to use, using them as a filler around fake flowers makes them look better! And it's cheap!

I spent $70 for ALL my flowers for my 10 centerpieces (100 guests, 10 tables) of course I'll need to purchase more for other decorations I need but I went to a floral shop fromMexico lol I went above and beyond for a deal but I live close to the border. If that's not an option for you try cheap shops for those little flowers that don't matter like baby breath and better quality for the bigger flowers that would be too obviously fake. There's always a better way just gotta look Smiley smile hope I helped

Fakes look fake, especially if they're DIYs. If you want believable fakes, you should hire a professional. He or she has access to stems you don't have access to, unless you're stealing someone's tax ID number, and even then, you're likely to choose hideous fakes because you don't have an artist's eye.

Just hire a pro. They know what they're doing. The average bride doesn't.
