Ok ladies, I need some help. I’m having a really hard time digesting the cost of real flowers. I’m considering doing fake flowers. How many of you have done this? Did you regret it? Any recommendations for where to get them? I posted some photos of my floral inspo if that helps.

Thanks!

I used fake flowers for my minimony and I will also be using them for our upcoming reception. I'm not a fan of real flowers so I couldn't imagine spending hundreds or thousands on them. I ordered mine from Amazon, however I see many brides recommend Sola Wood Flowers as well

I would say that it might be hard to achieve the look and texture of your inspiration pics with fake flowers, and if you are able to the costs might be comparable to real. Sola wood flowers tend to look very uniform, in my opinion. Fiftyflowers might be an affordable option to look into if you don’t mind putting together your arrangements yourself.

I used faux flowers for my minimony and will be using real ones for my wedding this October. I actually went to Michael’s and pieced together a bunch of little bouquets together. Then I used a ribbon from there to wrap around the stems. I honestly thought they came out great. It does become time consuming though having to put the bouquets and arrangements together. To save on florist costs for our actual wedding we went with placed (looks like a runner) greenery for our centerpieces which was about $35-40 per table.

I decided to take the plunge and spend the extra money to use real florals for our wedding because my biggest deal about faux flowers is the fact of having all those leftover fake florals with no idea what to do with or about them afterwards.

My florist mentioned to me that she is okay with the option of our guests having the availability to take the florals from our centerpieces once it is announced that the wedding has ended. Plus I plan on having her dry my bouquet for our wedding day shadow box. So I feel better and justify the fact of spending the "extra money" to have and enjoy real florals.

I'm definitely considering the fake flowers route myself and diy'ing them to cut costs. I think fake flowers are just as pretty and I want lots of natural greenery so I plan to just order from Michael's.

I was in the same dilemma! I thought I couldn't get the same extravagant look that I like with fake flowers, but after doing some research, I found that most styled shoots/Pinterest inspo uses fake flowers to achieve their looks. Like I said, I'm opting for something a little more colorful and big, so fake flowers are most cost-effective and honestly look great! Just make sure you opt for higher quality fake flowers, I've found that flowers from JoAnn's and Hobby Looby look more realistic as opposed to some other craft stores in my area.

Fiftyflowers.com is very inexpensive. To get high quality artificial flowers, you will actually pay more than you will for most fresh flowers. Not everyone wants to store them afterwards either.

Fake flowers are pretty depending on where you purchased them. These were made out of balloons 😁Artificial Flowers? Yes or no? 5

High quality silk flowers are really not any less expensive than real flowers, and sometimes cost more. Sola wood and foam flowers also can look pretty realistic but again aren't that much of a cost savings. The only artificial flowers I have seen that offer a significant savings over real ones look really fake and cheap IMO.

I'm not completely against using faux flowers and there are some reasons to choose them over real ones - they'll last beyond your wedding and can be reused in the future, they won't irritate pollen allergies, they can be designed well ahead of the wedding (not just the day before, good if you want to DIY everything yourself) and depending on the specific look you are going for they can do the job well and possibly replicate flowers you cannot find locally. However, its unlikely you are going to recreate the look of your inspo pic with fake flowers and cheap fake flowers always look cheap. So if the primary reason to go fake is to save money, chances are it will look like that is where you cut corners because they'll be noticeably poor imitations or you'll spend only slightly less than what you would have paid for real flowers anyway to have them look decent.
