Artificial Nails

Margaret, on June 25, 2020 at 3:10 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 19

I've always been one to get acrylics or gel nails - Because the long term usage of these products I've avoided them for a few years now. I just saw a post from someone who got acrylics and it made me want to do the same for my upcoming day... But still debating... Has anyone ever tried

Hi hi. I will say I did press on (I ordered some from them and they look lovely but ended going back to my nail salon since they had been open for a couple of weeks and were practicing social distancing procedures lol. The press-on nails lasted a good few days so if you put them on the day of or before you should be fine.

I'm pretty clumsy and hard on my nails, so press on come off super easily. I did acrylics and loved them!

I think it would probably be dependent on how you prep your nails and the glue you use for them. I think it would be perfect for the day of the wedding but I'm not sure they would last too long without popping off especially if you are heavy on your nails and do a lot of cleaning/cooking etc.

You can also do gel/dip/acrylics for wedding and honeymoon if youre going right after then get it removed.

I hated static nails. They were beautiful but they split in half after 2 days and then kept popping off. I think they’re way too pricey for the quality.
I really like press ons though because they don’t damage my nails. My favorite brand is dashing diva, that’s the brand I’m wearing in the picture.
The issue with press ons is they don’t always fit my nails as perfectly as acrylics. These normally last me about 6 days, I keep some glue in my purse so I can glue them back on as neededArtificial Nails 1

I would do acrylics so you don't risk one of the stick on nails popping off in the middle of your wedding.

I would do acrylic or gel nails in a heartbeat before I would do press on nails. I have yet to have a good experience with press ons of any kind but acrylics aren't going to risk popping off.

Thanks! That’s all I want! If they last Friday to Saturday - I will be thrilled. If they last longer, bonus!

    Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up! I’m only looking to wear them max 48 hours (Rehearsal and Wedding day) - So longevity is not an issue. I’ll never wear afterwards. LOL. (Never day never)

Thanks - I don’t care about longevity, I don’t want to have to repair my natural nail afterwards. I really only want them for rehearsal and wedding day

Thanks ladies! I should’ve said I have no desire to wear them longer than 2 days (Rehearsal Dinner and Wedding Day) if the Press On last 18 hrs - it’s a win win. If they last longer, it’s a bonus!

My natural nails take years to repair even with a day of acrylics or gel

I would suggest to put on the day of closer to the ceremony so they at least last for ceremony and pictures. Check the post you were in as I also sent a couple of natural manicures you could do. I will say a step above manicure is gel and you can ask your nail tech to not drill you real nail. Mine did that when I was wearing some gel prior to getting my acrylics back. I am considering taking breaks in between acrylic wear but I cannot say that it will allow them to get healthy unless I stop for months like you said. Regular manicures chip easily which I hate and gel is cool because it is a bit stronger but some looks are limited for me ha ha ha. Sorry I will say do what makes you happy but I would consider gel manicure at least or a regular one as you do not want to worry about nail popping off. I will say that with the press ons you could go about your day but I did feel like I had to be a little cautious to risk them not popping off.

Hee hee it is ok. Really blame pinterest because I found it there and I was like that is the look. I may take off the acrylics between now and then but for the day I will do a little nail damage. I should not because my toe nails are super healthy lol

Because we just are and our men like it ha ha. I saw splurge for one day but gel is the safer option of the two.

The filing they do over the entire nail in order to prep the surface is what destroys the nail. I agree and really I’m still struggling. They say the powder dip is supposed to require less filing, but I don’t always think those at the nail salons differentiate as much in how they file for the different types. Let me know what you decide and how it works. Right now I’m leaning to just painting them myself but I do want a good pedicure (more just for the pampering, I’m wearing closed toed shoes).

Our wedding is going to be in the Keys, We are arriving at our resort 4 days before the wedding and staying a total of 9 days. My FH's son (10) will be with us, so it's a Familymoon not a typical "honeymoon" - I am tough on my nails, I type all day long, play in the garden, cook / clean everyday so this week the ONLY days that I'll be focused on myself is the night before and day of wedding. We're doing a sunrise wedding so "entertaining" will end by noon and we'll be pool / beach / waterside the remainder of the time.

I've worn tips / acrylics / gels as long as I can remember (started sometime in my late teens); I'm notorious for breaking them, not not just "chipping" at the top but outright splitting them in the middle of the base to for blood to shed. I just don't want to worry about being overly careful and I hate how long it takes for my natural nails to return to normal. So if I can get away with GOOD "press-on's" for 48 hours - (18 hours at best) - I've won and well worth the money.

I have a friend that sells color street and was doing a fund raiser with her sales, I bought some - EVERY TIME I wear them - my nails start splitting. I've prepped according to instructions, I've done everything right and those little strips hate my nails. And then I spend months trying to repaid.

If I could guarantee the way my natural nails look today would look on my wedding day, I wouldn't even think twice about putting anything on them. But, I know me. When my nails reach what I feel is a happy length and I start to shape and make them look (what I think) even better - they start breaking one by one. So, I'm just looking / planning my back up plan. LOL.

I bought semi-open toed shoes but closed heel, but also have a pair of custom Chucks on order, so really not worried about my feet. They will be fine.

Sounds like you’ve got a good plan. I’m just as hard on my nails, and likewise I get them to a nice length and they start breaking. It’s the same 3 fingers on each hand every time too. I hadn’t tried color street but I don’t like jamberry stickers. Even if I find the right size I still have wrinkles. I also hate waiting for them to dry, so I basically just use Sally Hansen Fast dry polish, but it doesn’t last long through cleaning, yard work and gym.
