Asking a salon to order a sample

Becky, on September 2, 2021 at 3:28 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 5

I have an appointment at a bridal salon on 9/21. They are the only one in my area that sells Moonlight Bridal. I sent them my favorites to see if they have them, and asked if it's possible to order a sample before my appointment if they don't. Is this unrealistic of me? There are 3 gowns that are must-try's for me, and with almost 3 weeks to my appointment I would think they could get a sample from the designer to try on. Has anyone ever asked this of a bridal salon?

I asked this, and was told they could order it as a sample for a fee, I think it was 200 dollars. that would go towards any purchase I made in the store. I was only trying stuff on to get ideas for my custom gown so I ended up driving a couple of hours to go to a different store that was having a trunk show and would have the specific dress I needed to try on at their location.

That’s helpful. I would consider paying that if I could apply it to any dress since there are multiple by moonlight that I love. Definitely something to consider.

I had the same experience as PP. The bridal salon could order in samples (if they were available! Some designers have a loan program where there are only a set amount of samples available, and if they are already at other salons they cannot get them. There is usually a very short time limit on loan programs also. I think it was maybe a week), but for a fee. It ranged from $50-$200, depending on whether the salon had to actually order a sample, or if it was part of the loan program.

I asked for a specific dress and one of the four dress shops I contacted offered to order it. I'll still be visiting the ones that didn't order it, but that's still my top dress. They didn't charge me anything.

Yes. I fell IN LOVE with the Martina Liana 1110 after I saw a Facebook ad for it. I couldn’t get it out of my head. I went to 3 salons that sold that designer and nobody had the gown in stock-I guess it was a newer gown. I asked if they would order the gown for me to try, and nobody ever answered me. FINALLY I called another salon an hour away who offered to get me a loaner gown, and of course it was the one.
Long story short-you may have to call around to get salons to order you loaner gowns, and they likely will charge you a fee to do this, but it’s worth it.
