Asking for Financial Help

Did you ask family members from either side for help in paying for your wedding? Whether it be venue cost, catering, flowers. How did you go about asking? Do you feel bad for asking?

Its more of an East Coast and Canada thing I believe. So its a bridal shower for the couple or a way to help the couple fund the wedding. Some do an I DO BBQ instead as well. The Jack and Jill is usually the couple/bridal party sells tickets between usually like $15-20 per head to come (think of it instead of a gift) in my understanding is the couple/bridal party/whoever wants to help ; supplies the food and drinks for the guests. The ticket money goes to the couple as a way to help pay for the wedding. Some do a themed one, some have games, its more what you want to do. For my best friends Jack and Jill the bridal party made gift baskets for raffles as an additional way to raise funds and we did a 50/50. Its more a laid back party instead of throwing an expensive shower to get things you don't necessarily need. Plus its for both the bride and groom/ couple!

I haven’t asked a soul. I used my own personal budget to figure out how much I could set aside for wedding costs each month to give me a total wedding budget. I mean, if someone wants to offer, that’s great. My dad recently made a comment that he’d probably give me something, but I was never going to ask him for that because I already asked him to kick the renters out of the house he grew up in so we could live there instead of building/buying/renting.
