Asking guest to take video of our wedding day

Is this tacky? We decided to cut cost we were not going to hire a videographer. I priced them out and I got prices of $1,000-3,000. With that being said I would still like video of us saying our vows, first dance stuff like that. My brother is in IT and said if someone wants to take video clips...

My brother is in IT and said if someone wants to take video clips throughout the day he will put it all together on a DVD.

Is it wrong to give my Ipad so someone and ask them to take video clips? Not looking for the whole thing maybe after everything is put together it will total 15-20 min

I asked my best friend who is an usher to video tape certain things for us (first kiss, speeches, etc.) and he is happy to do it. It just depends if you have someone who really wouldn't mind. I don't care if I am being tacky!! Lol.

If you do - don't use your ipad, that's just embarrassing to look at

My sister offered to film some parts for us and she put her camera on a tripod to video the ceremony. We had also asked her to get the first dance and she forgot. Of course, she did us a huge favor, so I'll never let her know how disappointed I am that she didn't get the dance. If you want to make sure that everything you want captured is, I would pay someone.

Maybe rent/borrow a decent camera (go pro) and a tripod instead of having a giant iPad

No, I wouldn't ask a guest. Some people will say yes while they'd love to say no, and that's not fair (you'd be surprised how many people just can't say no). Besides, as a guest, there is no way I'd want the responsibility of capturing your processional, your vows, your first dance, etc. Truthfully, if I'm there with a gift, I'm there as a guest.

If this is important to you, I'd find another way to do it; but asking a guest? No. Please don't.
