Assigned seats for ceremony

Kevin, on September 4, 2020 at 2:58 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
Hi all! We postponed our wedding and reception to next year already and will be having a small ceremony this year with about 40 people to still get married. We were thinking of doing assigned seats so we could keep families together and keep them seated away from other guests to follow all the social distancing guidelines. Is this too weird? Should we just have them sort it out themselves or make a seating chart, chair tags? I’m at a loss on how to make this easy for me and the guests but also follow the covid guidelines?!

Let guests seat themselves at the ceremony. Assign tables at the reception but let them pick the seat.

I think if you have 40 people that's pretty doable since that's relatively small.

Seating charts at receptions are ALWAYS easier, for both the couple and their guests... add COVID-19 and social distancing safeguards to the mix, and it is even more important! I would say yes, definitely make a seating chart in order to keep social units together. You can do assigned seats if you want, or just assign a table and let them pick where they sit at that table.

I was considering assigning rows at the ceremony to keep households/social groups spread out. My thought was to put a marker at the end of each row with the last name, but at this point ou think I’m just going to let everyone figure it out. They can move chairs around as long as they still leave an aisle.

We're having about the same number of people and I am planning on doing chair tags for family/household groups. Not sure how smoothly it'll go, but I suppose we'll find out lol!

I think this is a great idea for covid seating! I would make a chart with a map of the seats and number them on the map. Then put the names and seat numbers below the map. If you wanted to, you could also put name cards on the chairs, but I think one card per group would be plenty.
