At what point does a man wear his ring after getting engaged?

After a man gets engaged, does he wear his ring immediately like the woman? Or does he wait until the actual wedding?

FH wears his band now. He chose to do so. "What do you think if I decided to wear my ring now?" I told him it wasn't that strange and it was up to him. Now he wears it always.

My FH has 2 rings that he wears, one is a promise ring i got him when we started dating and the other has our anniversary on it. He said he feels weird without them and we just tell anyone who asks that its an engagement ring. He'll switch to just one ring when we get married.

My FH is not wearing his ring yet .. but that's probably because it hasn't been bought yet! Ha!

He must wait until after the ceremony to bear a ring, or his sons shall be plagued with impotence

Jk. but it's not typical for a man to wear an engagement ring. Chalk it up to the patriarchy--men appear "available" until the wedding and the deed is actually done, whereas women wear a ring ASAP to ward off potential suitors and let them know that she's spoken for lol. *shrug* idk

my fiance sometimes wears a band although we are not married, but it's not for the most romantic reason lol. he looks young (baby face) and has noticed that acting like he is already married--calling me his wife, wearing a band, etc--garners more respect from other people. it makes him feel "manlier" lol. whatever!

It depends on the culture. In my FH's culture, it's traditional for the engaged man to wear a ring on his right hand, but we are foregoing that and waiting until the ceremony.

Sometimes I wish there was such a thing as a “mangagement” ring for men to wear during the engagement period. So everyone knows he is claimed! Lol!

My FH wears has been wearing his on and off since he got it 6 months ago. I've been wearing my engagement and wedding ring since I got my wedding ring over a year ago (I have no patience or chill Smiley xd )

    It's a preference thing.

My FH wears his band now - his choice. I think it's sweet! We'll get it polished and whatnot the day before (it's a white gold band) and he won't wear it until the ceremony.

My fiancée & I have been together for 11 years. We are far from traditional & decided we wanted to be married during a conversation about our future. So technically neither one of us proposed. We are planning on getting matching tattoos on our ring fingers before our wedding. He's made it very clear that he wants to surprise me with an engagement ring prior to our ceremony.

This is a recent phenomenon to me as I did not grow up around men who wore wedding rings. I would imagine a man would begin wearing his ring after the nuptials.

My FH got his ring about a month ago and wanted to wear it. i told him that he could if he wanted to, but he made the decision to wait until the ceremony. I'm pretty flattered he wanted to wear it before the ceremony! I'm glad to know he's excited about his ring. Smiley smile

We bought my fiance his wedding band and he wears it daily. It's their own preference.

I think most wait until the ceremony, because men only wear wedding bands. Engagement rings obviously go on when you get engaged.

Normally it would be after the ceremony. We haven't even gotten him a wedding band yet.

Depends on you both. My man got me a promise ring long before my engagement ring. We got engaged before my ring came in (had to get made). But when he saw me wearing mine all the time, he decided he wanted one too. He says he likes wearing a ring so strangers, etc know that he's off the market. but for the wedding I am getting him an actual wedding band. So all up to you

My husband, then fiance started wearing one when i did. We went ring shooping together and picked out engagement rings. a few people made fun of him for it, but we really didnt know that guys dont wear engagement rings. He just wanted to have something too, and I thought it was sweet he wanted to show it off, and show off being engaged.

Some men do it right away, but generally women get engagement rings and the couple both get wedding bands during the ceremony.

Mine probably won't even wear a ring after the wedding. He hates rings, always has. And he's left-handed, so he hates the idea of drawing or something and wiping away dust or eraser marks and scratching the paper with his ring. And his wedding band is going to be huge and chunky. It's the Skeletor ring by Han Cholo.

I don't mind. He is planning on getting a tattoo for me (not a wedding band but a bigger piece) to show his commitment. That works for me!

And for me, I won't be able to wear my engagement ring with my wedding band, I've added a picture of it. It's going to look something like that, it's a custom ring. Both of our wedding bands represent our favourite villains and the two things we collect (Skeletor/Masters of the Universe and Ursula/Little Mermaid).

And my engagement ring is an odd shape too (mermaid tail), so I'm going to get a ring tattoo of my engagement ring so that I can wear "under" my wedding band one day.

I guess we're a bit odd! Smiley smile

In American culture the man usually doesn't wear a ring until after the couple is married.
