Aternatives to glass clinking?

Beth, on June 28, 2016 at 10:43 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 13

The last post I found here was several years old. So, does anyone have any fun ideas for alternatives to clinking glasses to get us to kiss? I've heard plenty of having people sing a song with the word "love" in it. Our main goal is not necessarily to avoid it entirely, but to do something that will allow us to actually eat our dinner without being interrupted every 5 seconds to kiss.

We're using plastic glasses, and then distributing our train whistle favors (out wedding is at a train depot) for guests to get us to kiss after dinner.

I wanted this so badly. It won't fit in our current venue/theme but perhaps a smaller version could work.

I've heard of placing a bell somewhere in the reception for guests to ring

Giant inflatable D20! I know there is another bride on here doing it but I can't remember who.

I would advise against the bell idea only bc they did that at my FBIL wedding and one person got bell happy and was ringing it for a good part of the reception. It not only began to visibly annoy the bride and groom, but also several other guests. Just wanted to say my experience with it!

I've seen the demonstration of the kiss one... My parents slobbered all over each other (in a silly, joking manner) at my cousin's wedding to try to get her and her husband to kiss!

Well, we didn't really decide on any alternatives we liked so we let the glass clinking happen. And the funny thing is, DH JUST finished eating and I was almost done when I leaned over to him and said, "Guess what I DON'T hear, but I don't wanna jinx it!" and someone immediately started clinking! It only happened one other time, after I was also finished eating. So everything worked out!

Ha ha we have plastic cups, plastic silverware and possibly glass beer bottles. They will try but it will be hard.

I plan to ignore it and kiss when I want. Unpopular opinion maybe but im not a big fan of PDA.
