Attempted to read The Knot forums and...

^ no one pays to join TK. Also, I disagree with your "nice or nothing at all" statement. If we all just agreed with everything OPs posted, what would be the point of giving advice? Sometimes OPs need honest opinions, they just have to be willing to accept the good with the bad.

@mizangi You are right that everyone should be able to give good advice, and the person receiving should accept it. The problem comes in when it turns to bullying as it was pointed out about the thread on the knot. That's what I have a problem with, people should be able to give constructive criticism without being a bully.

That's what leaves me in small fits about TK. They are so literal & narrow-minded that they can't discern when someone isn't being serious on an internet forum.

I posted on TK one time years ago and after the comments I got I never went back. I posted something for a friend and because she was doing something another bride was doing. They jumped on me saying she should not do that because a bride on there was doing it too. They also made fun of one comments one spelling error that was just a wrong key got hit.

When people complain of our cruelty here on WW i say go look at TK then calm down

You think it can get bad on here and the knot, there's a woman's site out there mainly geared to moms where it's unbelievable.

Death threats happen a lot, including threats to women who had suffered losses of children since as far as many were concerned they were no longer moms, so they wanted them to get out of their turf.

yes, this site has it's issues from time to times, but I've certainly seen worse!

Btw- I suspect that a lot of those comments and posts are made by people that work for the site to keep things going.

I have never went on TK and dont plan to. I opened up those links posted and holy crap their real quick to be down right rude!

Why not just be nice .. we're all heard to offer and recieve advice, and share things. We're all adults, and some sure need to act like it. All you WW ladies are so much better! Things get heated here but nothing like on TK.

I posted the same question here and on the knot and got ripped apart on both. the onky difference is on the knot everyone insisted that everykne attending my wedding was going to end up super sick from food poisoning since we are not using a professional caterer. we are using his friends, mostly chefs, or prep cooks, and 1 still in culinary school. and the main person is trying to open his own catering company. so to me this is the perfect place to start because we are having more or less a big party. but my point is a lot of people jumped on me about this.but people have to start somewhere.

Giving advice is fine, but I think where it gets really bad is when people get so upset over the idea that their advice isnt followed. advice is there to consider. that doesn't mean that you'll just go do whatever someone tells you to do.

not on here quite too much, but I've seen that happen a lot on sites. 'I gave you sound advice, and you aren't going to take it? ' not necessarily no. not if I don't agree with it.

just like I wouldn't go jump off a bridge just because someone gave me the advice to do so.

Personally, I find TK to be very helpful sometimes about etiquette and other things regarding wedding planning. But when someone says something they don't like, they aren't afraid to speak their minds and chastise anyone.

Perfect example: I am an active member here and on TK. They posted a thread titled "Evil Confessions." I said that I confess that I hate how idiot people like to park so close to my Yukon that I can't open the doors, and I feel like if you're willing to park that close, then you can expect me to open my door and hit your car! They started telling me I'm disrespectful, irresponsible, a bad role-model for my kids, etc etc. I didn't take a damn word they said personally! They don't know me, why would I care what they think?

I think everyone takes things too literally on these sites... You're asking internet strangers for advice and sometimes their opinions. Everything needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

Yeah those girls suck! LOL they are so mean i started at the knot and got so turned off that i was scared to see what WW was like but then was so relieved and happy.

I finally caved and read the thread, wow do those ladies not know how to decipher sarcasm on forums. They really do need to lighten up and pull the sticks out of the butts. I don't think I'll ever understand people that refuse to have a sense of humor.

I used to advertise there as well as post. When I was continuously attacked everytime I posted either a new post or on someone else's to give advice the same three girls attacked me. I complained to the knot they did nothing. I removed my advertising dollars as well as my account. They are horrible So much better here

I just don't understand who in the world would copy a thread from this site to that to make fun of it. Do they really have that much time on their hands??
