Attended a wedding yesterday...

And it was good for the most part, however if my dj plays nothing but older music all night at my wedding I will fire him. The dj last night wouldn't mix any music up, and barely anyone was dancing. The last hour I finally went up and requested if he was allowed to play Pitbull or something more poppin...his answer.."I can, but I'm not sure we are at that point yet." I said, "oh yes we are." And walked off...he didn't play fireball until 20 minutes before the wedding was over...it was all still fun, but it would have been better had the dj played requests.

Great pic! I'm making my DJ list now, hoping to mix a lot of different styles of music but mostly we want our guests up and dancing Smiley winking

Yes same here! We are finalizing the music this week. We want everyone to have such a fun time, and a good dj should be able to keep people out dancing and having fun, not all sitting down!

Our DJ sent us a link for an online request form... we go there every couple of days and add music we want to hear - country, pop, rap, rock, etc. (and nsync and backstreet boys of course); he also let us fill in a planning form for when we want to hear specific songs. Two weeks to go!

KristenBeez, that's a very smart idea! theGrooms, thank you that's very sweet to say. I'm not trying to say the wedding was bad because it wasn't. I just think it's important to have a dj that knows what he's doing lol.

While I've listened to oldies my whole life, I know not everyone loves it. I do plan to have a lot on our list, but I want a dj that will take requests too. The last few weddings I've been to didn't have very many people dancing, so I hope requesting a song will get people on the dance floor!

Yeah I just like a variety of music so all age groups will enjoy. I will make sure my dj knows he can take requests.

Our DJ gave us a list of the 250 most requested songs. From there, we made a list if the ones that were ok to play at our wedding (the others are definite do not play). Requests are allowed, but she told us she won't play anything she doesn't feel is appropriate for a wedding (vulgar, etc).

    Cute pic!

We went to a wedding at the beginning of the summer and they didn't play one slow song all night. It made us realize that we want at least a handful of them. Is interesting how much you notice you like our dislike at a wedding one you're ended!

Maybe the couple getting married love oldies?

But I hear ya. We went to a wedding where the DJ was seriously in his late 70s and he brought a bunch of binders with the "top hits". Most of the top hits were from the early 90s. He did not take any requests for newer songs and the dance floor was dead. That's what you get for picking a super budget DJ.

This DJ was young, but wasn't very accommodating lol. I love oldies, but I also love newer stuff too. I think honestly the grooms parents told him to play mostly oldies since they planned the whole thing. I understand if they didn't want vulgar songs and dancing going on, but still. It definitely gives me a better sense of what I want for my wedding day.
