Hey ladies I was just wondering where everyone was with their planning! Everyone keeps telling me I'm doing things early but don't want to wait until the last minute and then be rushing and stressing around. I want to go ahead and book my venue this week so no one else books it.

We booked our venue!! The weekend before the date I wanted was already booked so we just went ahead and booked our weekend. Also booked our dj and photographer because I knew exactly who I wanted and didn’t want to chance losing them.

We have our venue booked, DJ, ceremony musician, and wedding planner. I am a planner and I'd rather get things selected and paid off sooner than later. We are looking at baker and photographer next. Book your venue ASAP once you find the right one. Everyone who says "Oh we have some time for your day" I respond with yup--- but I like to have my choice of who I opt to work with versus having to feel pressured to lock them in or getting stuck with people who have bad reviews because I waited.

Thank you, I am definitely going to go ahead and book my venue this week. I would be so hurt If I couldn't get it.

Thank You I totally agree, See that's how I am. I hate being last minute I like getting things out the way early so its less stress. Once I get my venue locked in I will be locking in the DJ, and everything else right behind.

I'm getting married in November of this year but we booked our venue (which came with a DJ) a year and a half before and I bought my dress a year before. I feel a lot less stressed about the wedding than people I've seen try to plan everything the year of the wedding and this has given us more time to pay off everything rather than coming up with a lot of money up front.

That's a great idea, I have already found my dress too but everyone's like no wait to make sure that's the one you like, but I'm like this is it. That's one thing I don't want to do is be stressed or pressed for time. I told my fiancé the exact thing that the earlier the more time we have to pay then dropping a chunk of money all at once.

Exactly! It gives us more time to enjoy the process and ensure our day is how we want it. My FH gets annoyed and says it's too early but he'll appreciate it once we get closer and I'm not panicking LOL

Hi! I've got our venue, photographer, and as of last week, caterer! I'm waiting on the ice cream shop to send me a contract/invoice sometime soon, hopefully- we're doing an ice cream bar instead of cake! After that though, I'm probably gonna hold off on things for a little bit. I kind of jumped the gun and bought some flowers from Michaels when they were on sale to mock up a bouquet for myself, which turned out great! Worst case scenario, if I change my mind about it, I'm only out like $40 and can use them as home decor instead, haha.

I was told the same thing!! I got engaged in November 2017 and started looking at venues asap because I wanted to make sure I got the one we loved. We booked our venue on Feb 3 and we booked our photographer and dj already. we are taking a break now until the late spring to start planning again.

Okay thanks I'm glad I'm not alone. That's my biggest fear not being about to get the venue I love and being stuck with just anything. I just want to get the big things out the way or at least started you know.

Booked our venue, ceremony site, and photographer! I’ve taken a week-long break from wedding planning tbh because I needed it. Time to start up again on Wednesday lol

Venue, photographer, and dj booked. I’m all for the earlier the better. I’ve started to look at centerpiece ideas because I figure I could get things on clearance as the seasons go on this year.

Completely agree! Planning early leaves less room for error. I know all the planning timelines say to do these things within a year but that’s not realistic anymore! Out of our top 3 contenders for venue, 2 of them didn’t have our date. We ended up going with the one that had our date for various reasons though.

We are getting married in September of 2019, but we have our venue booked which includes ceremony, reception site, and catering. We have also been buying little things here and there that we would like to use in the wedding if we find a good deal. I honestly love planning with the date so far out because we’re not rushed and have more time for payments! I haven’t been stressed at all. In the summer we’ll probably start booking photographer, cake, and things like that!

We have an appointment to check out a venue on March 2nd and will hopefully be booking it. I have the ideas I want for decor, my dress, etc., but haven't executed anything yet. Just getting ideas and focusing on the venue first. I don't think you're doing things too early at all!

I'm in a dilemma, I have everything, but a venue. And they want you to use their caterer, and it's so expensive. So if you found your venue, book early, my wedding is next year and it's book until 2019. This part is frustrating.
