August 2020

Where my August 2020 brides at?! Our date is for August 22 2020 in NC and I am so conflicted to go ahead as planned or reschedule for Nov. or Dec. 2020. Also, for the ones still having it in August. Will you provide masks or have people wear masks. What precautions are you taking? Any and all suggestions would be so helpful!

I am also curious about what others are doing. Our wedding was back in March. We had a 9 person ceremony in my MIL backyard (always planned on that location, just not that few of attendees) and livestreamed it for everyone else. However, we did postpone our reception to August 15 in Saint Louis. Now is crunch time again and we have to decide by next week to send out our new invites or not. We left the date blank so we can write it in just in case of another change. Our venue says we are still a go, but with a smaller headcount and other restrictions. I'm still so unsure, but my husband wants to do it.
We've cut our guest list down to fit the changes. If we do proceed, masks will be required to enter the venue and to move about. You can take them off at the table, per venue staff (fine with me). We purchased a few boxes of masks yesterday to have available at the door. All guests have to sign a waiver for the venue. I am also thinking about sending a questionnaire as people RSVP (via email this time). I'm a nurse and currently screen and question hundreds of staff at my medical facility each morning prior to their entry to work for the day. I'm going to include these same questions for people to review and ask themselves the day of. Hopefully if people answer yes to anything, they will stay home. Our venue has also installed plexiglass around the bar and buffet area. They have limited us to 6 people per table. And they may not have the dancefloor completely open (limited numbers at a time to space out adequately). There will also be hand sanitizer near high touch areas. Our venue is having their first event since the shutdown in mid July. I wish we could wait to see how it goes, but then invites might not go out in enough time. Even with the above plans in place, I'm still so unsure about what to do. This adds a whole new level to the wedding planning stress!

Our date was August 16th, 2020 in SoCal. Our wedding was canceled because our ceremony venue is currently under restrictions and cannot have weddings. We obviously didn't want our wedding postponed, but due to the current health concerns, I realize it was the best thing that could happen. I wouldn't want to put anyone at risk. If we were still going through with our original date, then yes, masks/sanitizer/social distancing would be offered/implemented. However, that doesn't sound like a very fun celebration to me. So we decided to postpone for next year. I wish you the best! Such a stressful time for everyone in the world, and really takes away from the excitement when planning a wedding & honeymoon.
