August 2021 Wedding

Julianne, on November 16, 2020 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 11

Hey! How do you guys feel about the recent news about the vaccine and weddings? I am getting married in Long Island, New York on 8/8 and I am really not sure if I should go forward with it given the circumstances.

There is still quite a bit of time before August! I would start thinking of a backup plan just in case, but still plan for your wedding to occur in August. Maybe re-assess in like May or June, and then make a decision at that time whether to move forward with your August plan or switch to your backup plan. Even if you end up not needing it, if you come up with the backup plan now, it'll be all ready to go in May/June, just in case.

Do what you feel is best. I'm pretty pessimistic, so I cancelled my wedding and opted for an elopement

Its way too early to know anything unfortunately. We are 8/6 and while I think it's a good idea to start thinking about backup plans, I know from experience that you can easily drive yourself crazy that way! When we postponed our big celebration from 8/7/20 to 2021 we started really talking about it at the end of May and made the decision June 1. Things can change so fast so it's just so hard to know right now!

Thank you so much! Our wedding was scheduled for 8/7/2020 too and we decided June 1st as well. I know I have to be patient! A part of me also just wants to put my mind at rest so I don't have to be let down again. But have to stay positive!

Ahhh almost date twins! It is so so hard, I feel the same way! We've talked and decided we are not postponing again. In May if things are still bad we'll start the dreaded downsizing talks. So just hoping for the best I guess until then? Good luck to you!

I’m getting married on LI also and just postponed my January wedding to July. I think we should be okay by then.

We are getting married 8/15 and have decided on a small ceremony and dinner reception. Close friends and family only. Then later we will do a bigger renewal.

I would continue on with your plans just as normal but have your Plan B stewing. Our wedding is on 4/3/21 & I’m still planning. My fiancé asked me the other day “I know you’ve probably haven’t been thinking about this but what are we going to do about the restrictions?” Told him that the date is still going to be the same but the only thing that might change is the guest list.

My wedding is set for 8/5/21, I'm still going forward, next August is a long time away a lot can change. We decided to plan as if there were restrictions in place so we won't have to change plans too much. Our venue holds 400 but our list is 50 so everyone can social distance if need be and we were going to do buffet but switched to plated. I would continue but make sure you have a plan b.

I'm feeling optimistic about the vaccine news! Our wedding date is in June, and I feel like we should be able to have a reasonable party by then. Reports are estimating that the vaccine(s) will be widely distributed starting in the spring, so I'm hoping that means by June family and friends have the option of being vaccinated. I am under no false pretense that our wedding will be like a pre-covid celebration. We will still have masks and sanitizer and spaced out seating. But I am hoping so much that we can hug our friends and family, and that our friends and family can be there.

I wouldn't stress too much now unless you're planning on having a huge wedding. I'm not sure that 200guest events will be able to happen but I think that it'll be much better by august
