Anyone else doing something similar? At this point, what do we have to lose 🤷‍♀️

My Date is August 28th honestly my Fiancé and I Don’t know how to move forward. We completely stop all planning we haven’t even sent out invitations. We don’t know if it would be a waste of time and money. This waiting around is killing us. We have a head count of 100 and we talk to friends and some are like just postpone others are like wait it out. This is so exhausting.

It is exhausting, but you and your FH are the only ones who can make the decisions. Ultimately, you can’t please everyone. You gotta do what’s best for you and the majority. For us, everything was mostly planned and paid for. We have very limited out of town guests. And- very few of our guests are high risk. We don’t expect everyone to come and we are okay with that.

We are August 29 in Michigan. We are continuing to ride it out. Our venue and vendors are all optimistic that a 100 person wedding will happen in August. Last weekend the venue had two 10 person weddings. I did type up a short COVID insert for the invitations that just says that while we don’t know what August holds, we will communicate with the guests if we need to cancel. I also wrote in there that while we understand there are differing opinions regarding the current health crisis, we ask that you RSVP regardless of your personal opinions.

Where in MI are you getting married if you don’t mind me asking? Our venue is in Saugatuck and we are really hoping to be able to have 100 guests for our wedding on August 22nd. Wondering if all MI venues have been trying to follow the same guidelines/projections. My venue contact hasn’t really been giving me much info on it.

Our venue is at the baypointe inn. It’s on gun lake in Shelbyville. The venue has offered us a lot of options for cancelation or postponement. They said most July weddings are still waiting it out too. It’s hard to get excited until we know for sure, but I’m trying To stay positive! From what our venue told us, they would need to be in phase 5 to be able to have large gatherings and we are currently in phase 3 where They are located. In other words, if schools can start in the fall, weddings will be a go too!

Same here! I’m trying so hard to stay positive but I am stressing out like crazy! I just want some kind of clarity. It looks like we are both in the same region I think so fingers crossed it will work out in our favor! Wishing you all the best with your wedding!!

Does anyone who is having a wedding in August feel that Ohio will ease up restrictions by then? I am asking because Indiana has about the same number of cases as Ohio and is opening up completely without restrictions starting July 4. I am wondering if Ohio will do this as well? Just continuing to pray and hope by my July 1st deadline that we will be able to have the wedding I hoped and dreamed for.

We had to change plans of the wedding but the date is still the same. Mine is June 6! After the wedding we will be planning a larger reception is going to be at our original venue.

I really hope so. Ours is August 1st which is still two months away. I find it very hard to believe that everything won’t drastically improve during that time. I have looked at Indiana’s schedule as well which is what gives me hope. It would be nice if DeWine would give some more details about receptions. I’m tired of watching the press conferences just hoping it gets brought up. We will be having our wedding and reception regardless of what happens. We made the decision and are sticking with it. I’m just really hoping they can figure out a way for us to have dancing soon. If Disney world is opening in July, I think they should be able to let us dance at our wedding! Try to stay positive! I’ll definitely post if I hear any new info on the conferences!

Girl I sure hope so. Yesterday they just extended the restrictions and ban on gatherings of more than 10 until July 1st in Ohio.

I don’t think they did that at least yesterday? Dewine didn’t have a press conference yesterday. Only about protests. I just looked it up too and it didn’t say anything abo that 🤷🏼‍♀️

No they did. It’s all over the Cleveland news stations. I didn’t believe it either at first. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cleveland.com/coronavirus/2020/05/new-ohio-coronavirus-order-extends-mass-gathering-ban-until-july-1.html%3foutputType=amp

Interesting. Kind of silly. I honestly feel they are getting out a hand with this stuff. It’s just my personal opinion.

I have been “writing the governor” on his site every day to talk about not being able to dance and holding wedding receptions to different standards than restaurants because they are different. It may not be doing anything but it is making me feel better.

I personally feel the same. I feel as if the restrictions are inconsistent and don’t make logical sense. I would feel safer being outside with 20 friends instead of in a banquet hall with 300 people. I’m also frustrated bc our venue is not a banquet hall, it’s a recreational facility.. so they’re not able to open yet. Looking like a backyard wedding for us.

That is so frustrating. Hoping and praying that things will be stated more. I know lots of people are not happy and I can see some things in Ohio being totally opened without restrictions if people like the elected officials stand up to the governor like some have already stated they would. I’ll keep thinking of you and everyone effected by this.

My fiancé’s family has a house on Gun Lake, and I’ve seen so many wedding from the water. We are also in the same boat (no pun intended) with an August wedding in MI. Our venues are waiting it out but also not penalizing us if we choose to change. I’m in the Detroit area, and I doubt we will be in phase 5 anytime soon.

P.S. I also got my dress at Becker’s Smiley smile

I am sorry what at B****!!! Like come on! Her power needs rescinded. I saw one senator is calling for her to be replaced. Would be perfect. She has zero reason to extend this, because all the deaths, hospitalizations etc on her "21" day average are all down. Cases you can't count because of more testing in nursing homes, which she should have been doing over a month ago. She better lift these restrictions come July if the trend continues down. GRRR

I am also 8/22 in Ohio. We are deciding to ride this out as well and no matter what we are getting married that day. Our invitations are going out in June as well and we understand if some are not comfortable coming but we are planning to proceed

That’s what we are doing! I have the invitations ready to go. I’m just holding them a few weeks in hopes for a more accurate RSVP count. People are sounding pretty positive about it so that’s good!
