I couldn't agree with you more. Order will be lifted, businesses will re-open and people will be back at work, but I believe things will not quickly go back to normal. People will still be living in fear and hesitant to reach out for a hand shake, kiss or a hug. This disease really shook the nation! I say this and here I am still planning for August 8.

I'm sorry if this makes me sound naive, but what does that have to do with August weddings?? Thanks for sharing.

It's a big convention. Many people. So, if the government thinks it will be save for that, then maybe our weddings will be allowed by then. Smiley heart

I hope it does! I actually moved my May wedding to August, then to next year because the numbers are horrific. I feel like we’ll still be social distancing then and I didn’t want my guests to feel uncomfortable. My family is also I Europe so we had to consider them as well.

We're thinking next year too. They Also said that Biden is advocating for a convention that is remote. This sucks.

I am getting married August 22nd and I couldn't agree more. We spoke to our vendors just incase and have a backup plan. I have a small feeling that we might have to postpone.

The only thing that has helped my anixety is to have a solid backup plan and speaking to my vendors. Since we are now all on the same page no matter which plan we end up with we are okay. I would just prefer my August wedding at this point. I hope it works out for us all.

Megan, I'm feeling the same way. Thanks for sharing - I thought I was being too pessimistic, so I really appreciate your realistic approach.

We're set for 8/8/2020 and while the shelter in place most likely will be lifted by then, that doesn't necessarily mean there won't be limitations on how many people can congregate together. Half of our guest list, and almost half our bridal party are from all over the US. So many of our friends and family members have lost jobs, and I know people will continue to lose their jobs, and even lose loved ones - we don't want our wedding to add more stress and anxiety on our loved ones.. people will be grieving so many different things.

We're giving ourselves until the end of April to officially decide, but right now I'm fairly certain we'll be postponing until Aug 2021. The hardest part for me right now is that we're just far enough away that I haven't ordered invites yet, cake, etc.. I don't want to continue to plan and spend money and put deposits down if I'm legitimately concerning postponing.

We moved ours too. From talking to our guests, they won't be up for travel by August.

It was August 7th but now 2021... We're thinking June 12th but I'm just not sure. We're going to elope sometime before then.

That is a good move. Was your venue understanding?

I know in Maryland by August things will not be back to normal. My venue refuses to assess the situation until a month before (which is SUPER frustrating). My dress is delayed until July despite having ordered it in the fall. My fiances family is from New York/New Jersey and we have a ton of guests across the country. I've tried letting the venue know all of this and they just keep saying it's too soon to make a decision. Personally, looking at the data it is not too soon, there is no way 200+ people will be allowed to be together without social distancing.

I've seen so many people have venues who are understanding about moving August weddings, so it's hard dealing with a venue in a state where cases are continuing to rise isn't doing anything.

Are you looking to transfer to a new date or cancel outright. Have you made sure that they understand it's a delay and not a cancellation? What does your contract say? It will cost me $100 to move my date. All the other vendors are moving free of charge. However, we are going to elope beforehand. It's exhausting and I'm on multiple dates now - so it's exhausting for my guests too.
