August Wedding under Gov. Wolf's Ban

Chelsea, on July 16, 2020 at 10:25 AM Posted in Pennsylvania Planning 0 7

Hi everyone.

So to anyone who lives in PA right now, you know that Gov. Wolf recently signed a new bill banning indoor gatherings of more than 25 people indefinitely. My wedding is August 29 which puts us at about a month and a half away. I have so much running through my head like how close to that date can I go before I need to make a decision? What are we going to do if we can't have it? At this point, we are calling our venues to see what direction they have been given. It looks like we are going to have a small ceremony that day anyways with just immediate family and a bigger reception down the road. My heart goes out to any couple getting married sooner than that with no chance of changing anything. I never imagined my wedding to have to work around a pandemic, but for sure we'll have stories to tell someday.

We've been invited to a PA wedding on August 22. I hope they can still have it! Have you thought of having it outdoors? I think you can have up to 250 outside.

In PA too....We made the decision last week to postpone and I’m so glad we did. As far as I understand the 25 person limit includes vendors/staff. I think it’s 25% occupancy or 25 people...I’m not sure I understand how to determine which.

In PA too (Philly), and from what I read, it’s 25% occupancy for restaurants and limit of 25 people for group gatherings indoor (such as a wedding even if the venue holds more). Both numbers includes the staff.
I’m worried now as I don’t know when the limit will increase again. And Philly has been stricter with the guidelines where no indoor dining is allowed yet, and just announced that all large outdoor events are cancelled through February 2021 (parades and marathons).

We have considered it; however, I've always been wary about having an outside wedding in late August. Also, we would lose a lot of the money we've already put into our reception venue. I'm just thankful we will still get married on that day regardless!

My wedding is 9/25 and with the new mandate my venue is allowing a roll over to next year. my fiance and i still plan on getting married on 9/25 at my church with about 25-30 people, and then just having a dinner after. My venue is at a vineyard and they also have their own catering company. they offered a dinner in the vineyard if weather allows, but would be moved in the venue if it rains, so it would still need a be guest list of 25. but i did hear the 25 includes staff which makes it even more difficult to lower the guest count! We would then have a bigger celebration the following year. We are still waiting to make a final decision though.

I'm also waiting at least another week before making the final call. Our families are going to come together to discuss some things. With the 25 people including staff, we'd be able to have like 15 people which means only the bridal party could go. It's crazy!

I know, i really think it's ridiculous it has to be 25 people including staff!
