August/september 2021 weddings hopeful for “normal” wedding?

ALY C, on November 23, 2020 at 8:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Just wondering how brides with late summer/early fall weddings are holding up? I wasn’t really enjoying the planning process before they announced the Effectiveness of the vaccine, but now I’m a lot more hopeful and decided to send out my save the dates. I’m in California where the restrictions seem more intense than the rest of the country. But I’m hopeful we will now get a normalish wedding by the fall where people feel comfortable attending.

Depends on your definition of normal. I had a small minimony with three people and I felt as the day was perfect and I felt like it was a wedding. Weddings vary from person to person. If you mean having a large wedding and reception sadly we do not know because we did not think Corona would last as long as it has. I say plan for what you want but maybe have a back up just in case and any venue or anything check their postponing policy.

April AZ bride here. Our wedding guest list is around 80, we were aiming for a small, intimate wedding. That # might be big for some but considering how big my family is & how many friends we have plus our fire family (he’s a firefighter), that number could have easily been 250+. I have my hopes up that we can still have our dream wedding but I do have a Plan B as a backup.

Chances are definitely looking up. Most activities/establishments will likely require you provide proof of vaccination for all guest once we’re at that point.

Aw that sounds so nice! Yeah I put normal in quotes to mean you could have whatever wedding you found to be normal without restrictions whether that be one with 2 guests or 200. A vaccine is definitely promising for those hoping to invite more guests!

I have a lot of friends getting married in Arizona and i think you’ll be good to go. They don’t have as many restrictions. I think it’ll depend on whether guests feel comfortable and I am hoping they will with more people getting vaccinated

I really hope by next year things are better and you can get the wedding you want. I know LA is one of the more strict states. The good thing is sending invites out closer too will help determine how many guests but the biggest thing I have seen is working with venues that have flexible postpone policies if needed.

I’m having a large wedding (200) in September and I’m planning as normal but will have an idea of a plan B and make the decision in late June. We feel that with three viable vaccines and more on the way that society should be relatively normal in 10 months. Many of these businesses can not survive that much longer, so I am sure once the more vulnerable population gets vaccinated restrictions will change. Masks while dancing may still be around, but I’m willing to deal with that if it at least means I can have all my guests and dancing.

I’m in SoCali, so I know what you mean about the restrictions😫😖😔. We postponed from October 2020 to October 2021 and we’re hopeful that next Fall will better than this one. When we postponed, there wasn’t any sadness or stress. We just rolled with it because it was the best choice in our specific situation, with a destination wedding (in Vegas). But next year... either way, with whomever is present, whether it’s our planned wedding or a last minute “backyard boogie”, vaccine or not... FH and I will are tying the knot! 😂 Best wishes and happy planning!!!

I'm pretty pessimistic so I dont think things will be even half normal until 2022.
