I have discovered that my period will be in full swing the day of my wedding and not gonna lie I’m pretty irritated about it lol. But it’s whatever. I was wondering if anybody experienced that and how you handled it? Or anybody is going to be in the same position and how you plan on handling it? I can’t imagine trying to change a tampon in an 8 layer tulle fit and flare😫🤦🏻‍♀️ And my flow always ranges from light to heavy depending on the month lol. I’m not on BC anymore because I want to get pregnant so skipping it is not an option and while it’s not the most ideal, wedding night sexy time won’t necessarily be ruined lol. I just wanna know how to manage the actual wedding DAY with my unwelcome guest... thanks ladies!!

Google: Ikea Bag/wedding dress. That should help! I was going to be on day 2 during my wedding day and that is my heaviest day. I decided to get on BC to avoid it, but I'm also done having kiddos. I agree with the Thinx undies, but I would not try a diva cup for the first time while wearing a wedding dress.

Omg!!!! I thought I was the only one for some weird and unfortunate reason 😂. My period came a couple days early this month and now it’s looking like I am scheduled to get my period the day after the wedding which means bloating, acne, and cramps. It’s possible that it may come sooner which would mean that I would be on my period on my wedding day. Hope for the best, prepare for the worse! Good luck sisters!!!

I fear this might be the position I'm in too. My period is irregular so I'm tracking it like crazy and hoping for the best. I have done research on this just in case. This article was helpful, https://lover.ly/planning/news-tips/how-to/wedding-day-period/.

If my period does occur on my wedding day I plan to use a mensural disc (like Flex) and Thinx panties.

Lastly, I regularly use a mensuration cup and it works great with the exception of heavy flow days (for me). Usually I can go 12 hours before changing it, but on heavy days I go 4-5 hours.

Keep in mind, when the cup is full you have to take it out, empty it into the toilet, clean it, then reinsert it. That's a lot in a big ball gown. Whatever you use, back it up with a pad or period underwear to feel secure. Then you can relax and enjoy your day.

The cup Is awesome. But its true that it gets messy. You shouldn't have to worry about changing your cup in your dress though... however if for some weird reason you do end up having to, I think if you use the trash bag method that would keep the dress safe or maybe you can have someone help you get out of the dress and keep it safe that way.
Also I always dump as much blood out on the toilet before washing it, so there's less chance of a spill. However, you shouldn't have to even change the cup in your dress, if you put it in right before the ceremony begins or as soon as your start your day. Just make sure you start with an empty cup.

I would skip it but that’s just my personal preference (and if you’re on birth control) 😊

I’m not very regular and I can start any where from a few days before or a week after the ETA in my app. Mine was supposed to come day after, but due to stress I didn’t start until almost 2 weeks later.
I don’t know your cycle, but not being on bc, stress could effect you. So, maybe you won’t have to deal with it.
I don’t have any tips for dealing with your dress but i had a basket in the bathroom full of pads and tampons just incase I needed them in an emergency.

This discussion is great! my period came early this month which means I wil be scheduled to have it during the wedding, on my heaviest days!! I am so upset! I think I may try the cup as well!

My only advice would be possibly getting in and out of your dress when using the bathroom, i think that's my plan

I plan to use a Diva cup, honestly, if that happens to me. It's super convenient and holds SO MUCH (I only change it every 12ish hours on my heavy days). It's great also because if you're only at the first few or last few days when it's so light where I can't use a tampon but also hate not wearing anything.

This is my fear too. I found on Amazon the “bridal buddy- the original”. It holds your gown up so you can easily use the bathroom by yourself. It’s only $35, so totally worth it.
This should help instead of a garbage bag.

Get a cup because you can go 12 hours without changing it, but if your flow is lighter the cup can go longer.

I checked my calendar and it says I should be going off the day of the wedding, but mine is so irregular sometimes I don’t know what is going to happen. I feel the same how do you handle that. That will be annoying having to check and change during the day of . I don’t even wanna think about it, but I guess I have too...

What I do when I'm trying to delay or put off my period is donate blood the night before I'm expecting it. The blood loss usually gives me an extra day or two of time, but I get that not everyone can donate blood and that might just add to the stress.

Another option is to get Thinx, they're kinda pricey but then you don't have to deal with tampons at least. They have different colors and styles so you can avoid panty lines.

I understand wanting to get pregnant, but taking it for a week before the wedding and then stopping sounds like the best way not only to avoid tampons but also cramps, mood swings, and bloating at an already stressful time.

Try out a divia cup. They are a fuckton better. Use it for a while before to get the hang of it, but once you get the hang of it you can leave it in for 12 hours safely. That's how I deal with mine at work, since I have to use the men's room and they don't have trash cans in the stall.
