Aunt of Honor?!

Haelen, on May 23, 2019 at 4:07 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 6
We are having a small wedding ceremony (immediate family only) with no bridal party. I have one brother and he is our officiant and my fiancé has no siblings. I am very close with my aunts though and wanted to ask two of them to be my “Aunts of Honor” to be there for me all day, help me get ready then be at the ceremony. Is that a silly thing to do?

You can have whoever you want come and get ready with you. I don't think you need to title it "aunts of honor" (though if you really want to give them a title, there is no harm in that). If I were you I would just say something like, "it would mean a lot to me if you came and got ready with me the day of. Here is the plan..." My sisters weren't in my BP, but I invited them to come get ready with me. I just asked them. I didn't give them a title other than my sisters.

It's your wedding - if that's what would make it special and make you happy, go for it! I think they'd be honored to share that experience with you Smiley smile

I don't think it's silly at all! Your aunts clearly hold a special place in your heart, so honoring them would be very sweet of you to do!

    Hey Healen!

I think this is a really lovely idea! Your aunts obviously mean a lot to you and it would mean so much to them for you to honor them in this way.

I don’t think that’s silly at all. I think they will be honored that you ask them. Also I like that you called them Aunts of Honor. I asked my sister to be my Sister of Honor, she will stand next to me and my matron of honor will stand next to her.
