We just got engaged and are starting to think about honeymoons!! 😍
Australia honeymoon 1

Has anyone gone to Australia for their honeymoon?! It’s top on our list but not sure where to go there. I have always wanted to go to Steve Irwin’s zoo.. just not sure what would be around there or anywhere that would be easy to travel to. We love anything outdoors! Thank y’all in advanced!! 💗

I don’t have any advice (sorry!) just wanted to say congratulations and your ring is gorgeous!! I’m sure there are a lot of online resources you can look at for travel ideas/things to do around the area. Not sure if Trip Advisor extends to international travel, I’ve only used it for domestic (I don’t see why it wouldn’t!) Best of luck!

FH and I went to Australia 6 years ago for a business trip. We were there for a month, one week of work for him then three weeks to visit. We flew into Sydeny from Los Angeles. It was a 15 hour flight. We spent a week in Sydney, then flew to Cairns and stayed for about two and a half weeks, then back to Sydney before heading home.

Sydney is a lot like any major metropolitan city,, lots to do and lots to see. The Sydney Harobr area was fun and the transportation system around the city runs very smooth and all forms work well together. While in Cairns we went out to the Great Barrier Reef a few times and visited the little towns around the area.

Definitely a trip we were going to take at some time but when it presented itself we jumped on it.

If July 2022 as on your profile is your wedding month, you might be lucky and actually able to get into Australia by then - currently our borders are shut tight to everyone except returning citizens, basically. No guarantees though unfortunately, particularly as our vaccine rollout has been pretty terrible. Anyway. How long would you plan to spend? People underestimate the size of the country - it’s pretty much the same size as the continental USA and very diverse. Australia Zoo (Steve Irwin’s zoo) is north of Brisbane, near the Sunshine Coast; July/August won’t be spectacularly warm there so if you do want warmth and sunshine then heading further north to the tropical regions would be what I’d suggest. It’s a good time of year to visit far North Queensland (Cairns, Port Douglas, the Whitsundays) or if you want something a bit wilder, the Northern Territory is incredible and not like anywhere else you’ll see - Kakadu (which is a World Heritage Area) and Litchfield national parks are extraordinary. There’s also so much Aboriginal history in the area which is super interesting.
