Average cost for photographer/videographer.

Please help! What is a reasonable cost for a photographer? I was quoted from $1500-$2800. To me that's a lot...to others, that's reasonable. And that's not including a videographer. At this point, videos from cell phones will probably suffice, lol!!!

Wow, those quotes don't seem ridiculous at all, especially if they include rights to print the images yourself.

We're paying $2800 for a package that includes those rights, and I was happy to get it.

My first choice was $3500, but you had to add on extras to make a minimum of $5K, which I couldn't do.

And I'm in NE Ohio, so on the north coast, which is a whole lot cheaper than the east or west ones.

That's SO reasonable. Good photogs range from $2,500 - $7,500. Photos are a wonderful investment given that's how you'll look back on your day PHYSICALLY & TACTICALLY. You want them to be well-done.

We had happened to know and have worked with our photographer before so She gave us a great package at a great price and worked closely with us to tailor a package to our needs, but the majority of packages we looked at were priced between **** (depending on the company, number of hours and what was included print wise) for the SJ/PA area. Depending on what is included in the packages that price for a photographer sounds very reasonable! Also the saying "you get what you pay for" is true for a reason.

As far as a videographer goes - I think again it is partly location and partly what you want included in the package you purchase - if you want editing, and a trailer, just some editing, raw footage only etc. We have not booked a videographer yet so I can't really speak to that

I'm getting married off the coast of NC. Photographers and videographers average around $4k each. While there were some who offered a photo/video package, several others wouldn't do both (meaning, if I hired them to do photography, they wouldn't do videography). I found a photographer for $3100 for both photography and video.

I'm getting married in NC and the photographer I chose was 2700. I haven't hired a videographer yet because my priority was photos. I know the prices can be shocking but pretty much anyone will tell you it's not the place to skimp. I chose to have the photographer I wanted and a smaller guest list, no favors, cheaper dj and only beer and wine. Those photos are going to be around for years and years to come the rest will be over in a day.

I guess it is "utterly ridiculous" if you are ok with poor lighting, over saturated editing, shadows, bad angles, cheesy staged photos and a video that looks like it is from a 1982 Bat Mitzvah. I'm not ok with any of that so it was not ridiculous for me to pay for a high quality professional photographer and cineamatographer. They are each in the $3-$5k range and will be worth every penny.

Ours is around $4000. This is one of the most important things for us so we were willing to look for someone really talented. She will be with us all day, with a second Photographer. She touches up all images. We get a book and two big prints.

Those are pretty good prices. Here in western NY I've seen photography prices ranging from $700(yes $700) all the way to $8000. On average most photographers have been in the $3000 range and that's for a decent photographer. With photography you definitely get what you pay for.

I think that's reasonable for a photographer. Most important vendor, in my opinion.

I'm paying $1,600, which is pretty good for my area. Videographers tend to be at least another $1,000. I've gotten lucky and found one for $800. Look around and research, it will help you to weigh your options. Definitely don't use a phone though. These are one of the only things that you will have to keep and pass down from your wedding day.

Also in the Bay Area, paying $3500 for 2 photographers for 8 hours. No video. IMO, you get what you pay for so choose wisely!

That is pretty reasonable! Ours is 3600$ but that also includes an engagement session and 2 photographers at the wedding. We didn't want to go cheap on photos though so we budgeted for a better photographer!

That's very reasonable- we paid $1,800 for our photographer. Since we had a small wedding, we opted for the simplest package but our photographer could charge up to $3,000.

That price is very reasonable, but it does depend on your area and what the package includes. We're paying $3900 for photography & videography, but that includes engagement photos, albums, prints, etc.

When I ask my married friends what they regret about wedding planning, the most common complaint is they wish they had spent more on photography. Flowers are just a day, cake is a day, but those photos will bring you joy for years to come.

If you find a photographer for $1000-$1800 that's the reasonable range with $**** being the lowest average and $2500+ being the expensive/mainstream. This is for Central Florida. Videographer I paid $2000 which was an amazing deal I got for three cameras, drone, full and edited preview. That was me investing in a videographer I felt would truly capture my day from beginning to end. How long are you looking for the person to be with you? Full day? From the ceremony? Til the end of the day? End of reception? Photography (especially video) is NOT an easy job. These people basically come into your world and try to capture what they feel YOU will love without really knowing you. It's a lot! And editing to music is not easy. I've done basic editing to music and it takes hours. So it's not just the wedding they are working, it's even after.

Note: The cheapest decently good videographer that I saw was $1900 and he was charging $1700 as a special. But if you're investing in thousands make sure it's worth it.

SideNote: If it's too much, see about companies that bundle together things HOWEVER make sure you review their work well enough. You take short cuts, you can end up with a great DJ but crappy photos and video.
