Average cost of florist in/near Lancaster, PA?

love_andmarriage, on July 31, 2017 at 3:04 PM Posted in Planning 0 5

I want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off.

What is the avg cost for a florist in/near Lancaster, PA?

I am looking to have a floral backdrop during ceremony/re-purpose for reception, 7 bridesmaid bouquets, bridal bouquet, centerpieces for 10 tables, and some greenery draped from the ceiling.

Most florists have asked me for my budget prior to speaking with me to create my quote, and have all sent me something around there. I do not care about specific flowers, just a certain look. I think the budget I have been giving out has been too high because everyone has been providing me with a quote of exactly that, but I just saw an article that the average cost of florists in that area are THOUSANDS less than I had said to them. I just want to make sure I'm not being ripped off.

Use the vendors tab to find a few. Get some quotes and then compare Smiley smile

@Spaghetti - the problem is most florists have asked me for my budget prior to speaking with me to create my quote, and have all sent me something around the budget I gave them, not under.

Pricing depends on what you are asking for. The WW budget planner will tell you some of the averages but averages mean nothing depending on where you are at. It's a little silly to think your florists are making up numbers to scam you. If you got all similar quotes then that's probably what it costs! I usually tell vendors a slightly lower budget then what I really can afford though.

I can't help with normal costs for the area, but I would suggest getting a quote from another florist using a lower budget to see what they come back with. Most places aren't going to quote under budget, they are going to create options to match your budget. $5,000 worth of flowers should be much fuller than $3,000 worth, but many places would be able to meet both budgets if that makes sense.

When our (now late) aunt lived in the Lancaster area, my family always ordered flowers through http://www.royers.com/

I was in the bridal party for someone who had a short-depth canopy, for their ceremony (strings of crystals and intermittent orchids, hanging from PVC poles covered with white draping) and the florist said it would take too long to take apart, to be moved into the reception area. I think it was too big and heavy, just to carry it.
