Average Price for Engagement Photos?

Even though I'm 10 months out from my wedding date; it's always really bummed me out that we never took engagement photos even though I know we technically don't NEED them. When it comes to photos and my fiance it's like pulling teeth, he just does not like taking photos together most of the time even selfies. So he finally agreed to take engagement photos since he knows it will mean a lot to me. Since we're 10 months out though (Wedding is in April 25, 2020) should we even bother with engagement photos? What's the average price usually if it's not bundled with your wedding package already? Thanks!

My photographer charged $125 for and hour and a half and I did one outfit change. We didn't send out save the dates because our family already knew the date and details so we will be including our engagement photos as part of our centerpiece decorations.

We did some in September of 2017 and then did some again in May of 2018. We got married in August of 2018. It's definitely not too late! We didn't use them for anything, we just wanted to have them haha.

Average in my area seems to be around $400, but I've seen them them cheaper too. See if your photographer will cut you a deal!

A tip I give everyone is to enjoy a glass of wine (or whatever you like to drink) before you go! It helps to loosen you up since taking photos can be awkward. I told my photographer friend this tip and she recommends it to all of her clients that are a little nervous!

Neither my fiance nor I drink - we're not sober or anything just live a fitness lifestyle and don't really care for alcohol. Maybe once every 2 or 3 years I'll have a glass! But that would be a great tip for anyone to help loosen up!

I don’t think it’s too late. They don’t take that long to complete. We were probably on the upper end for pricing at $550, but we got a lot so I’d say it was worth it. FH and I don’t have many, if any, formal photos so we wanted to splurge. We got two photographers who were willing to drive a couple hours to a near by city and then climbed a mountain plus an outfit change. I don’t like getting my picture taken, but our photographers made us very comfortable and knew what to do.

We didn’t plan to do them but hubby found an amazing Groupon deal for a newer photographer for $50. We only got about 10 pics but we really just wanted 1 or 2 for our Save The Dates & wedding website so it worked fine.

I wish I had done ours sooner to be honest (Engaged in March, literally just did them and got them back this week). Our wedding photographer was running a special and was kind enough to offer the same pricing to us - it was $125 an hour plus a $50 travel fee, so $175. We got back about 60 beautiful pictures!

My FH is the exact same as yours - it's like pulling teeth. Then I rarely take selfies myself, so it's been so rare over the years that I 1. Chose to take a selfie and 2. Convinced him to take one with me!

The last vacation we took I bought a selfie stick and we actually had a blast and ended up with a zillion photos.

You had me take a look over at Groupon here in Nevada; but no luck.

DANG it. Maybe you have to keep checking back, if you have time. I think we scored the deal in January so maybe because that's slow season for photographers?

Our engagement photo session was included in price but it was only 30 mins long. No outfit changes. But I got back plenty of pictures that I liked. I think average cost around my area is around $200. Also time wise you are more than good. Our entire engagement is two days short of 10 months and we got our photos taken about 2 and a half months in. So 7 and a half months left.

Were you guys able to get all the shots you wanted in 30 minutes? But that’s a good deal for the price! Did it include prints?

I didn’t have any set poses in mind which I regret a little now but she took over 60 photos. And I liked over a dozen which is pretty good because I’m picky. But that does not include prints. That’s not really common around my area anymore. You get digital copies and can print anywhere you want. I much prefer that.

You just reminded me that maybe I should have a couple of poses in mind that I want him to get. I would completely blank during the photo

Our price for just the engagement photos was $520 which included a digital portfolio, prints of out edited photos and a large 11x14 piece. So all and all a decent price
