Average price for wedding and reception

Quasia, on January 7, 2019 at 1:50 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 22

I'm a little confused on how much to spend for everything. What's an average price? I was looking at a few venues and they want $10,000 and up. I feel like that's excessive for a wedding. When I still have to pay a decorator and a honey moon.

It depends on what’s included and what area you’re in. My venue is $3000 for the fee and some basic rentals, but does not include anything else.

It depends on where you are, your guest list, a whole bunch of factors.

Mine is about $7k for 100 people, and it's largely a DIY wedding.

I really depends on the region you're in, what is included in the price, the number of guests you're having, the type of food, whether the venue is all-inclusive, etc.

My entire wedding is on a $10k budget. $10k for a venue is excessive; however, it's also typical. You can find a lot more budget friendly options; you just have to do a bit more hunting. I will say, be careful of DIY costs. Some people end up spending more money for more work (because most DIY items seem less expensive until the tally everything together). Just make sure you have a line item for everything and stick to it like crazy glue.

The first thing you should do is set an overall budget of what you can afford. 50-60% of your budget will be spent on venue/food/alcohol. This will also determines how many people you can afford to host. People in the south or Midwest can pay $20pp but I live in California and that is impossible. I would shop around at different venues and look at non traditional places too.

Ours will be about 100-120 also maybe it's because everything is included. I want to DIY a lot of stuff too.

It all depends where you live and what you budget is. When all's said and done, our wedding will have cost us roughly $25,000 (not including the honeymoon).

Will they be including catering as well? I know a couple venues I looked at were on the high side ($10,000+) but they included catering. I went with a venue that did not include catering, however it was $6000 and between that and catering I will be spending about $10,000. BUT they venue supplies everything else we would need including tables, chairs, bar, set up and take down, both ceremony and reception space, as well as access to the art gallery during cocktail hour. It's going to be more about looking what is included and what is not, then basing it on how much more you would have to pay for in addition to the venue and how close you are to your budget.

It really depends on where you live, and number of guests. I read somewhere the new average cost in the US for a wedding was $34,000. My budget is $55,000. I've been in two weddings (both in southern California), one spent $3,000 and one spent $20,000. So it can be ALL over the map.

Depends on guest count and location. There are stats on the average price of a wedding in all the cities in america. Less people, less money. I found a venue that includes catering and other things and keeping my guestlist to 100. Each person added to the list drives up the cost. There are many different types of venues you can consider that may be affordable, but planning a wedding generally means lots of money. My average cost in Los Angeles is about $30k but im not paying that much.

It depends on where you live and the venue's popularity. In Napa, a lot of venues charge $5K-$10K+ for just the site fee. WTF? I cried. But we finally made our dream venue work by choosing off-season, weekday wedding... saving us more than 50% off site fees and hotel fees.

Ask any venue you're interested in about: 1) off-season rates, 2) weekday rates 3) brunch rates.

Mine was just the building for the entire day and the tables, chairs, with some extra set up help in the morning. That was all and it ran $3,500 in a coastal town in North Carolina. So depending on what you're getting (catering, bar service, etc) that's a steal! If you still have to rent a dance floor, DJ, caterer, bar service, chairs, tables, and what have you, you might want to reconsider your budget or look elsewhere.

My venue cost $31,000 for 175 people. I'd say $10000 is a great price, especially if there are things included.

Ours was $14,700 for a restaurant in Rochester ny, ceremony and reception in the same space, custom menu and open bar with 6 featured drinks, coffee, staff, furnished, silverware and plates, and a wedding coordinator whom we used for 8 months.

We had to find our officiant, djs, photographers, florist.

I'm from the North East. We are spending about $25-30K on the wedding and are way UNDER the average wedding cost for our area. We've joked a few times that if we did a destination wedding in south, we could afford to fly out most of our guests and still get the same package for cheaper.
