Avoiding Bikini sun/tan lines...

Karen, on June 19, 2013 at 5:26 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

Getting married next month in Spain and I'm worried that I'll have bikini lines on my shoulders (my dress is a strapless, sweetheart). I've started doing sunbeds (which I would normally never do, but I'm trying to avoid getting burned when I get to Spain). We arrive 5 days before the wedding so we'll be on the beach everyday leading up to it.

My problem is that I can't wear a strapless bikini (or should I say physics doesn't allow me to wear one). Any suggestions on what bikini might help or suggestions on how to avoid getting tan lines without mentioning me sitting under an umbrella all day (I'm an active person so I'll most likely be in the water rather than sunbathing).

Anybody have the same problem? What did you do?

I've heard of bathing suits that somehow allow light to penetrate them so you don't get tan lines. I'm maybe search on Google for them and see what the reviews are. Granted, it might be interesting trying to put sunscreen in the areas that the suit covers...I'd make sure you lotion up before you go outside Smiley smile

I would just use sunscreen, but I don't tan, I burn. You can always untie your bikini top while you're laying out.

Definitely need to soak up that sunscreen. Or wear some type of top or dress over you bikini so when you are walking around in either a strapless type of bikini or with straps down on a regular one you have a little more support?

Haha, PurpleSun! I'm European, and told my other half that I'd probably just go topless, but with his family there it might get a little awkward! LOL.

Thanks, Ladies. I'm definitely going to look into the bikini's that let light through. I bought factor 50 suncream and I even got a wide brimmed hat, but honestly, I can't see me wearing one of those. I also looked into a spray tan just in case, but I'd be afraid that it would stain the dress.

Are you opposed to spray tanning? A good tanner (don't know the real word) should be able to match the color so your tan lines disappear. I'm a runner so I get super cute short sleeves, shorts, and socks tan lines, but a good spray tan will get rid of them for a few days.
