Awful wedding gifts?- lighthearted

Marina, on September 7, 2020 at 1:10 AM Posted in Registry 0 22

What would be the worst wedding gift ever? Or probably the awful one that you or your friend have personally got?

It wasn’t awful but my bridesmaid gave me a Polaroid camera and hers was nice but I already had one aha so it kind of just sits there not being used cause... I already have one xD this is also what happens when you go off of someone’s registry. But again it wasn’t a terrible gift, it just was kind of useless to me.

An 18inch brightly colored pheasant with a 5 inch hole in it's back for a plant was our one and only Dud gift. We got 240 off registry gifts, all 10 items we registered for, and this thing. We had the most incredible range of surprising and thoughtful gifts, except, THE BIRD. We have kept it because it proved useful. For some reason our then 110 pound 9 month pup, was scared of ot. While we were moving the bird around, waiting for the giver to go away, we noticed if we used it as a doorstop, The dog would not enter the room. We had moved into a rental with no closet doors. When we started putting Bird in the doorway deliberately, all our shoes and boots and belts were safe, not
    chewed. Some wedding gift!

My mom told me that my dad's parents gave them a huge statuette of a ballet dancer as a wedding present and she literally had no idea how to get rid of it later. It took too much place but it was impossible to throw it away as my dad's mom would come and enjoy it standing in their living room. So when I was young and couldn't walk properly, I pushed it off the table and that's how it all ended Smiley laugh

I've never heard any horror stories from my friends when it came to this. For me, i absolutely hate junk for a gift. I hate it when someone buys me a gidt that I won't use at all.

A cheap *gold* colored jewelry tray, bought on clearance (so it couldn't be returned) - we had cats, so I couldn't just leave jewelry in a tray - it had to be on or in something where they couldn't play with it. That fugly thing went to goodwill (and we just said it "broke" during a move)

My friends were given this as a wedding present from her grandmother.. they both hate it and think it’s creepy but they cant get rid of it because grandmother always asks about it and wants to see it prominently Displayed in their home 😂🤣

Not the most horrible thing, but 1 guest got us some random housewares stuff we didn't want, including an ugly and broken cheese board, so we just tossed it.

Yes, that is the killer clause, when it is someone you care about and do not want to offend. And they will be around to notice. 🤬 Don't tell them that Goodwill would not take it because it was not well made, and you crowned them Mr and Mrs Bonfire . Cute on a package, like bows and ribbons, but who keeps that stuff?

Just a mass produced ugly about 18" ring tailed pheasant, which originally had chives planed in it . We had 2 theories of why it was so scary. Hubby thinks when we first had it with plant, it looked to the dog like a snake head almost 2 inches throat to top of head. Poking out of chives green stems. The first time dog batted it by the tail, it spun round on the base with head toward Suo, and he yelped and ran off. I thought the bonemeal and a supplement that smells coppery like blood, for the plant, and eye watering chives where I had just cut them, bugged him. Either way, as wedding presents go, it has survived 5 kids and 18 dogs ( 3 sets of pups) and I wish appliances and dishes were as indestructable.

I love him! But only because of the story surrounding himSmiley smile

As far as appliances go, my mom and I joke all the time that her 1983 Cuisinart food processor outlasted her 28-year marriage to my father😂. His new wife has the same one that lasted longer than her first marriage as well. Good appliance, bad omen for marriage?

One of my friends had received this CREEPY painting of her and her husband. He was like sitting and thinking and she was in his thought bubble and it looked nothing like them, but at the same time you could tell it was supposed to be the. They had no clue who had given it to them until about a year after their wedding. They kept it hidden in a closet just in case someone important had given it to them. It turned out to be a gag give from the grooms friend lol.
