I wanted to do my bachelorette party early, and before holidays started. I'm easily overwhelmed and knew that I already have a NWR trip to Nashville the last weekend in January, plus the bridal shower/wedding/honeymoon I just didn't want to be tapped out. I'm SO glad I did this!
I've spent the better part of 6 months trying to find a weekend that everyone was available (9 bridesmaids, and a few friends I wanted to tag along). I finally asked everyone for dates they weren't available, cross referenced, and picked this weekend. I still had people not go. 1 is my step sister and she is in medical school and ended up on ER rotation-totally excusable. 1 woke up with a 103° fever Friday-also excusable. 1 is in the middle of moving from. Chicago to the very Southern part of the state, and also has a deathly ill fur baby. I talked her out of coming. We can hang out any time and I knew this trip would be stressful for her. The others all had their excuses, but ones that really hurt my feelings. But it's alright, because the weekend could not have been better!
MOH kept me in the dark on all the plans. 3 of the girls had gone down to her house Wednesday night to help her set up, and I picked up one here in town and one on my way through the STL region. We arrived about 11pm and when i walked in her house I was greeted with loud music, lots of screaming, tons and tons of fiesta decorations! She even had little goody bags made up for each of us with hair ties, little margarita bottles, makeup remover, a face mask, and some aspirin lol. We stayed up talking a bit and then crashed. Saturday we went to Churchill Downs and watched some races. None of us had ever been and it was SO COOL. Then we went home and got all dresses up to go out.
Now this was an adventure all in its own. I bought a tulle skirt (such a good decision), and spent 2 days shopping trying to find just the right shirt. I ended up buying one, bur I wasn't satisfied with it. While packing I ended up on my bedroom floor in tears surrounded by most of my clothes while wearing my skirt and a bra alone. I was so upset and felt like I had nothing that really said bachelorette. Sweet FH walked in, saw me on the ground, and ended up packing my bags for me because I was a mess. He sent lots of shirt options so my girls could help. He made a joke about me wearing the bra out (hot pink lace I had just bought). We laughed. I am extremely modest and have never left the house in something like that.
Well making my girls help me decide what to wear and they LOVED the bra. I ended up wearing it out 🤷🙈 I am really glad I did too! It felt like a bachelorette outfit and I got tons of complements.
Our night on the town started at dinner, when we left the girls surprised me with a party bus! I've never been in one before and it was SO fun. We drove around for a few hours dancing and singing and drinking. Just having the time of our life. At one point my MOH had one of my BMs (who was in charge of the music) play the song that FH and I have chose for our first dance. I broke down in tears and then my MOH did as well. The bus dropped us off on 4th street and we hit the line of bars. I met another bachelorette and we gushed together. A man came up to us at Howl at the Moon and told my friends very firmly that he was gay, and pointed to his husband before promptly motorboating me 😛😂🙊🙉🙈, then returning to his husband's lap. I would have died of embarrassment but I had PLENTY to drink. Then we went to Play for the drag show. We danced for a while and then sat down for the show. That's when things went sideways. One of my BMs hit her limit really hard and vomited on the floor midshow. I took her to the bathroom and missed the last half of the show. She puked out of the uber on the interstate on the way home, and then spent an hour in the only bathroom at the house. Sunday morning we realized she left her bag at the bar, which she had mistakenly taken with her car and house keys in. She was one riding with me and they didn't open until 7pm. Luckily the bar responded to mg Facebook message and were able to confirm they had it, and let us come get it before we left town. Sunday (around trying to locate her bag) we got a good hangover brunch, then went to Flying Axes to do some axe throwing. It was such a good time and a great way to end the trip.
Best advice I have is not to stress about everyone going. I worked so hard only to have people still not come. I wouldn't put the effort in again.
Also, wear whatever you want! I was miles away from home where no one would recognize me and it felt great to be silly!
All-in-all it was an excellent trip. I felt so incredibly loved from start to finish.
