Babies breath - real or fake?

Carianne, on July 13, 2015 at 10:29 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 1 16

Any thoughts on using real or fake babies breath for my centerpieces? Pros or cons. Also, any suggestions on where to buy it in the Los Angeles/Inland Empire area??

Costco has it at a very inexpensive price - I don't think you could find fake for less than real.

I always go for real flowers and baby's breath is so inexpensive. Costco has a great price. The last time I looked it was $89.99 for 100 stems. Depending on how big your centerpieces are and how many you need, it can go a long way.

It's the one artificial flower I would never consider. It's very cheap, as the others said. I plan on ordering from Costco or Sams.

Artificial baby's breath always looks cheap and plastic. Go with the real thing.

Real. I don't know that I would classify it as super cheap because it takes a bunch if you're going for a fuller look. However, the fake baby's breath seems to be more expensive than the real and doesnt look half as good. Plus I love the smell of fresh baby's breath. We got 300 stems from Costco. Roughly 300 bucks after tax. Made 16 centerpieces.

You can try save on crafts... I used their baby's breath and they have different types however, what I don't recommend is anything with glitter. I bought the silver glitter for my bouquet and there was glitter all over the place I ended up using the bleached ones.. it came out absolutely gorgeous... I used 4 bundles for 8 bouquets including my own... the texture is like a dry flower texture if that helps.. Good luck!!!

Definitely do real. I agree with the Costco suggestions. I've seen fake baby's breath at Michael's and it looks terrible.

Our Florist used a lot of baby's breath (BM bouquets/GM bouts/centerpieces with hydrangea) and it look great! Real is sooo inexpensive that fake doesn't make any sense, and like MzRosa said, it looks cheap

The Flower district in downtown Los Angeles is great for inexpensive flowers. My FMIL has used those for my FSIL's weddings and will be doing mine! There are a ton of vendors so you can haggle the prices. Good luck!

Has anyone compared the price of the Costco babies breath versus babies breath from the flower district in LA?

Personally, I don't think fake flowers often look good up close. Also, in my experience they are rarely super cheap or anything to where it would even make sense. I know it varies depending on where you are, but here it's cheaper to buy real flowers. I see many people say they think a big pro of fake is that they last forever but all I can think is that I don't WANT them to last forever because what the heck am I going to do with all those fake flowers in my house taking up space?
