Baby pics as decorations?

Bride2B, on January 12, 2018 at 9:34 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 16

I love baby pics, and I was wondering if any of you have done anything with that...maybe as a welcome sign or something? I think I saw an invitation design with them on it, although I'm not sure i'd want to actually do it unless it was on an insert or something. Or maybe I can do something for the rehearsal dinner?

Show me what y'all have done or are planning! Smiley smile

I went to a wedding recently where they used baby and childhood pictures of the bride and groom with the table number. So each table number was a picture of the bride, the table number, and then a picture of the groom. They were really cute.

Do you have examples? I'm trying to imagine it. I think I get it? More of a cute, innocent-like theme and also, light-hearted. I've never actually seen this in person however...

To the previous comment, I think baby photos of the bride and groom is very cute!

We didn't, but I've been to a wedding where they used pictures of the bride and groom at different ages on each table to go with the table number. They did it by putting a picture of the bride at age 5 on one side of a small jar and a picture of the groom on the other side of the car and filled it with flowers, then put the jar next to the table number (in this case, table 5).

I've also seen this same idea online where they use a three way picture frame and put the table number in the center frame and a picture of the brude and groom at that age in the side frames.

That is a super cute idea!! I have to check with my venue, but as of now I don't think I'm doing seating or table numbering. But if I do, I think that might be a great idea Smiley smile

I think it depends on how fancy your reception is. If more formal than maybe do at rehearsal dinner? I have seen it done more there.

Like PPs said, maybe like as table decorations/alternate table number cards. Or maybe I can somehow work them into a welcome sign? Like have a collage set up as people walk into the venue, or have it set up at the rehearsal dinner?

I won't be too upset if this doesn't work out. I was just framing some pics last night and thought it could be a fun idea!

The more I'm thinking about it right now, the more I think you're right. This is going to be more of a formal wedding.

Just yesterday I saw on Martha Stewart’s website a couple that had family and baby photos displayed on string attached to stakes in the beach. It was really classy for a photo display... I will see if I can find the link.

I've also seen the baby pics for tables numbers like "When we were 2..." for table 2 and "When we were 3..." for table 3, etc. It was cute but they had uploaded the pics, resized them to match and changed them to black and white so they looked a little nicer and less "DIY"... I wouldn't overdo the baby pics though, I think they can be cute but I don't care to see a million pics of you everywhere as a baby.

We've considered going with the "when we were X..." style table numbers. I think its cute and sweet but not sure if I'm up for that much DIY lol.

I saw the table numbers using the baby pictures and I loved it I really considered doing it. But I realized we wouldn't be able to and I didn't want to ask FMIL or FH about it because about I think 6 or 7 years ago (when FH and I first started to date) they lost everything in a house fire. There was nothing left and the house was completely burnt down to the ground. I defiantly did not want to upset anyone with it!

I love the table number and considered it.

I'm thinking about doing something similar, maybe on our welcome or card table. FH and I are both huge baseball fans, were serious baseball/softball players growing up, and now play rec softball together. So I was thinking about making a sign with Yogi Berra's quote "Love is the greatest thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too" with a collage of pictures of us playing growing up and attending baseball games together. Just to bring some of that into our wedding because it's such a huge part of our lives. And also cause I love that quote.

A friend sent out an STD with a picture of her around 5 or 6 in a dress-up wedding gown, pearls and heels and a picture of her FH around the same age in a suit for the cover. She converted both photos to black and white so it looked really nice. It was super adorable.

I love the idea of incorporating baby/kid photos into the decor but, FH HATES it. Our moms originally offered to put something together as a surprise for us but, he threatened to walk out of the reception if they did. If your partner is on board though I say go for it.

I attended an outdoor wedding where they hung baby and childhood pictures of the bride and groom from a grape arbor. It was a fun conversation starter during cocktail hour.

This isn't us, but some things I've seen:
For table numbers, my friends put a picture of them at that age. So for table 5 there would be a photo of the bride at 5 and a photo of the groom at 5. It was pretty cute.
My cousin had a baby picture of him on the men's room door and a baby picture of his wife on the woman's room door.
