Baby's Breath Bouquet

Tina, on August 22, 2017 at 11:08 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 13

Hi Guys!

I'm thinking of DIY-ing Bridesmaids' bouquets with Baby's breath...Have any of you done it before? if so, about how many stems go into one bouquet? Thank you in advance for your help!!!!

You'll probably need at least a full bunch in order to get a nicely shaped, filled-out bouquet. Baby's breath bunches differ in number of stems, but they tend to be around 5-10 stems per bunch.

ETA: Also, if you're not set on BB, in my opinion, waxflower is a prettier filler/accent flower, and it smells sooooo much nicer!

You'll need a lot of BB to make any bouquet look deliberate and not budget. BB are accent pieces -- not focal flowers (and they're only focal when they are massive). If you want them to be focal flowers, you'll need to buy quite a lot of them, and have them perfectly shaped to make it look polished and not DIY. You'll also have to deal with the smell -- and while not everyone agrees, plenty of people believe it smells like cat urine.

BB is not a favorite of mine -- not even as an accent. It's such a dated element -- decades old -- despite what pinterest says. If you want budget friendly, there are better ways to go. However, if you love it, I'd suggest you pay a florist to do a very healthy, perfectly formed, correctly secured bouquet.

As many people have said, you'll need a LOT to make a full looking bouquet.

My florist said a lot of people do baby's breath for a cheaper route, but really when it's all said an done done you can spend $5-$10 more and get an arrangement of actual flowers.

Try somewhere where they have wholesale flowers, such as Sam's Club!

You can have a florist do small bouquets with one rose. It is inexpensive and looks great. Your florist will get the ones that are not funky.

I was considering this route too, but I think I'm going to spend just a bit more and get a Sam's flower package. I've been worried about the smell and by the time I add the amount of accent roses, I'm almost to the full package cost.

I think I'm going to do Baby's Breath, Yellow Billy Balls (craspedia), and white daisies for the bridesmaids bouquets
