Babys breath smells? (the flower)

Nadine, on July 15, 2013 at 12:05 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

Is it true babys breath flowers smell like spit?

Thats what one of my bridesmaids told me and she happens to be a florist.

When I showed her the bouquet I like she said NONONONONONO! Babys breath smells just like spit you really dont want that at all no.

And she has told me about 4 times since then that its a horrible idea. I told her my mom had babys breath in her hair for her wedding and so I want in it my bouquet. I was going to ask the girls to put it in their hair but I will not be doing that anymore.

So anywho does it smell? Do you like it with roses. :/

I dont want a stinky wedding now.

I've never heard nor experienced that.

I say if you want it, have it. It'll look lovely.

No ones going to smell it anyway.

Ask your mom if she remembers her headpiece smelling?

Hmm I've never noticed. Could you go to a florist & ask to smell it?

I've never noticed. There's not going to be enough of it at my wedding for anyone to notice. All of our bouquets are babys breath.

I've actually never smelled spit, so it would be hard for me to comment

Oh, the stargazer lilies have an odor that gives me a splitting headache!

I never noticed baby's breath as having any odor at all.

Babies breath smells like spit up, not spit. You need to smell it in bunches to get the effect, not just a little hair piece bit. A lot of flowers have a fragrance. Personally, I think iris are best left in the garden. I don't like the mass babies breath look but it's not because it smells, but it is just not that interesting. It's a phase like ruffled tuxedos.

Baby breath have a tendency to smell like spit. However, you can always spray some essential oils on it or perfum and now one will notice. It's your wedding and when you agree to be a bridesmaid you know that brides are going to ask you to do things you don't want to do, but you do them anyway. I have been a bridesmaid 10 times and I have never once told a friend or family member that I wouldn't do something they asked me to do for their wedding day.
