Baby's Breath Tall Centerpiece prices

Private User, on July 13, 2016 at 1:17 AM Posted in Style and Décor 0 12

I want to use all baby's breath for my ceremony and reception. If anybody else has done this was it expensive? I plan on having tall centerpieces. Does anyone have any price quotes or estimates?

I'm having tall centerpiece for my wedding as well but have not found any affordable ones so I've decided to make them myself for a fraction of the price. I would recommend doing that, and saving some money (and making them exact how you like) Smiley smile

I'm doing them myself as well since it's a lot cheaper and I'm buying my flowers from Sam's Club.

Costco sells bulk flowers including Baby's Breath.

I really would like to avoid doing them myself. I would like to find a florist to do them for an affordable price.

Then call a florist for a quote.

Baby's breath is deceptive; you need more of it than you think.

I hate it, so I can't really help ya. It doesn't even look like a flower to me.

This past post about baby's breath is super helpful:

Please be very careful when doing baby's breath. Make sure you get a complete mock up so you know how much you actually will need to look this way.

If you want to have those tall, full centerpieces, buy a ton of BB. It's not as economical as people seem to believe it is. The result, if you don't buy a lot of it, will be the thin, unimpressive counterpart that it was to the dyed carnation centerpieces of the 1980s. It can be done beautifully, but it won't be inexpensive (Pinterest drives this stuff. BB will continue to rise in price as long as it remains trendy. Once the trend is over, it will go back to the price that it actually warrants. It's an accent stem, a rather hardy one, but it shouldn't cost what it costs today).

It takes a ton of them, and by the time you buy that many there's not a big savings.

Im having baby breath as a filler in some arrangements. My wedding planner did tell me that she had a wedding were everything was baby breath and smelled like wet dog. She had to keep spraying the venue so the guests wouldn't notice the horrible smell. So beware of that if that is what you want.

I'm of no help in pricing but just get quotes.

Ana makes a good point. I belong to several professional groups, and every time BB comes up, the smell of "wet dog", "cat piss" and "rotting something" comes up. Not everyone smells a foul odor when they're working with BB, but, to be honest, I don't like the smell of it when there are buckets and buckets of it in my work space.

But hey...there are positives. It's truly one of the longest lasting flowers I've ever worked with. From a distance, if it's placed in a beautiful receptacle or laced with an organza ribbon, it can be quite lovely.
