Babys breath varieties

MrsA, on April 10, 2015 at 12:16 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 12

I was wondering if anyone has experienced different varieties of baby's breath and which seemed the best for BB only arrangements. I've read the Million Star variety is the most common but wondered at others.

I'm going to follow this. I had no idea there were so many varieties of Baby's Breath.

I just told our florirst: Baby's Breath bouquets for the bridesmaids and white hydrangea and baby's breath centerpieces. And left it at that.

To piggyback on this, has anyone found any good silk baby's breath options? All the ones I've found seem so plastic-y.

I plan on using baby's breath, but intend on dying them royal blue.

    Varieties of Gypsophila

Gypsophila elegans- Tall annual summer flower with clouds of tiny blooms.

Gypsophila muralis - Annual plant types for borders and bedding.

Gypsophila paniculata (Baby's Breath) - Perennial variety with tall, multi-branched stems and clusters of tiny, delicate flowers, which can be good filler in bouquets.

Gypsophila repens - Low-growing perennial trailing plants for borders and rock gardens.

I think I'm going with New Love variety from Flower Explosion. Sams Club does the Million Star variety and I don't know what Costco uses, although they have great reviews. New Love is suppose to be the biggest flower while Million Star has lots of small ones.

FOR CUT FlOWERS (not garden) Gypsophila Perfecta and Million Star. Million star is dainty, small blooms and browns very easily, Perfecta has larger blooms and does not brown as easily. My Formal education began in floriculture.

New love is a hybrid of grown perfecta, kind of like an upgraded name brand. Great product.
