Bach in mdw in Austin? Or postpone??

Elizabeth + Eric, on April 2, 2020 at 1:47 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 5

Bach is supposed to be in May - Memorial Day Weekend in Austin -

But now with everything idk to postpone?

The wedding is supposed to be in September in Italy, but that will more than likely be postponed...

What to do????

Should I just wait until I know when the wedding will be so they can be close together?

Or should I just postpone the bach?????

I am also having my bachelorette in Austin the last weekend of May and as of now I haven't postponed it. I am going to wait another month and see what happens. I would do whatever your most comfortable with.

Even if things open back up by then, it's going to take longer for things to go back to "normal," and I suspect travel will be greatly impacted in this way. To be safe, I'd be postponing--it's usually much easier to postpone a bach party than a wedding.

My bachelorette party is suppose to be the same weekend in NOLA. We are postponing. At this point that bachelorette party doesn’t even seem as important anymore.

I live in Austin so I just thought I'd let you know what I'm seeing here. Right now we're under shelter-in-place until April 13th (I think there's a good chance that order will be extended until at least the end of the month), and all gatherings until May 1st have to be under 10 people. I also thing there's a good chance that will be extended. My wedding was scheduled for May 15th--we're still planning to try to do a 10-person ceremony (just immediate family present), but I think there's a good chance they might even ban those at that point. The Omni downtown, where our guests were supposed to be staying May 14-16, automatically cancelled all their reservations--my guests received a notification last week from the hotel (they're shutting down through May 15). They're expecting cases here to peak around May 2nd, so I'm not sure cases would be down enough by May 30th for everything to reopen. Austin has been pretty aggressive with the bans/distancing orders. You might be ok by May 30th but I think there's a good chance things wouldn't be back to normal by then. I had to cancel my bachelorette (scheduled for two weekends ago) due to all of this, and also my wedding plans, so I completely feel your pain.

    Hi Elizabeth + Eric,

I'm sorry you're having to go through this stress before your wedding. As you can see from the comments above, you aren't alone!

Everywhere is a little different, but many cities/states have shelter-at-home orders in place. From what I understand, some of those orders are being extended now, as hospitals are still anticipating the peak. Based on Lauren's comments, it sounds like the situation in Austin is touch and go right now.

Re: your bachelor/ette trips, it may be worth the time to try to determine your best options. Are your friends and family expressing discomfort with traveling so soon? (Have you asked them?) I've heard many airlines are accommodating cancellations. By now, I expect that major airlines and other travel related companies (hotels, Airbnb, etc.) have created policies for refunds or credits due to COVID-19. It never hurts to ask!

My fingers are crossed for a relatively quick resolution to the Coronavirus crisis, so you can make a decision soon. Hang in there! Smiley heart
