Bach party woes

Amy, on September 16, 2020 at 3:24 AM Posted in Parties and Events 0 10
My wedding is Nov 3rd and my lovely MOH has offered to plan my out of town bachelorette. We decided on a date (October 23-25) and a location (Charleston). Even though she offered to plan, not much planning is happening. She says she will contact the girls and make sure they are on board, book housing, activities, etc, but it’s just not coming together. We started this process over a month ago.

I know it’s not in good taste to over step, but we are now 37 days away and haven’t even booked a place to stay (plus everything is booking up like crazy). I try to bring it up in conversation and she acknowledges we need to book, but then doesn’t follow through.
Should I just take over and plan my own Bach/girls weekend? I’m worried we won’t even get to snag an affordable place to stay, and I know money is tight for the other girls. Should I just let it go or take the reins?

Have you reached out to the rest of your BP?

It might be best to let them decide. Maybe your MOH has spoken to them, and they keep shooting down the idea...

So most of the girls I invited aren’t able to make it, so it’s just the bridesmaids. There’s only 3 total. And one is in a different state “/

That's what I'm saying - reach out to those who are coming. More might be planned, or at least decided against , than you are aware of.

Before you try to do this yourself, talk to them.

Let the others know, and back off. If they do not act immediately, assume that you now have a group who have decided they really do not want to go. And what is the point of a party if no one wants to be there?

Do you have another bridesmaid that you can talk to that can kind of push her to start planing?

I’ve tried. Everyone just seems really distracted. I don’t want to make people go, but when I ask they still say they want to go.

If hinting and going to the others has only resulted in foot dragging, either they do not really want to go but do not want to tell you because you are so set on it ( Why brides should stay out of planning parties! pressure) or else with the varying travel and closure restrictions, they would rather book travel last minute even though it may cost more, than put down deposits and lose them if you cannot go. Leave it alone. If they really want it they will make it happen. So if they do nothing, assume they do not want to go, and say nothing more. It is no party if only you truly want to go.

I’ve told all of them it’s no big deal at all if they didn’t want to go, and I totally understand because of Covid!! They all swore they did want to go, so MOH got the house, but nothing. So now MOH is out $700. I honestly wish we would have just had a weekend with the MOH & I 😅
