Bachelorette Location Ideas!- Driving on the Northeast

Sherin, on April 8, 2021 at 2:29 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 7

Hi everyone! I had always planned for a bachelorette in Puerto Rico, but unfortunately due to COVID, my girls are a bit hesitant about flying (completely understandable!), so I'm hoping to look for some driveable options (<5 hours). We are coming from the NYC area, so definitely open to any and all ideas you have! We are planning for a 3-4 day stay.

Planning for a summertime bachelorette (June-Aug). I love outdoor type activities (hiking, parasailing, jetskiing etc)., but also would love to spend time at the beach, wineries, have awesome food (i am a complete foodie so great food is a must), and if there are any unique day trips from the location, that is definitely a plus. Honestly just looking forward to spending a couple of fun-filled days with my girls.

I've looked at a couple of locations and see that Cape May, Cape Cod, and possible Newport RI look nice but wanted to see if anyone has ever been to these locations for a bach and if they recommend it, or have some place else completely that I can look into!

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I'm from the New England area and I actually just had my bachelorette in Newport, RI! It was over the St. Patrick's day weekend so it was actually quite busy. But walking down the main roads was so much fun getting well-wishes from people. We only stayed one night but it was super fun! We shopped during the day, had a nice dinner, and had drinks at our rented condo into the night. We also got breakfast the next day. But in the summer there is so much more to do, so I would definitely recommend that. I have also been to a bachelorette in Provincetown, but it was during April so it wasn't as busy as I'm sure it gets in the summer, but it was still very fun!

Block Island is Awesome! You can go parasailing, ride around on mopeds, the beaches are amazing, great bars, but this is more of a staying overnight type of place if you’re coming from NY

You can also have tons of fun in Newport if you wanted to just keep it as a 1 day thing. You could do the cliff walk, tour mansions, Newport Vineyard, great bars and food! They are also hoping to have the Newport Jazz Festival around the time you’re going which would be cool unless Covid decides to ruin that again

You can head towards the wineries on the North Fork of Long Island. Do a wine tour for a day, a beach day, you can go to the sunflower/lavender fields, do a boozy boat tour, have brunch, paddle boarding, lots of bars and restaurants.

I also like the Catskills area for wineries. Definitely plenty of vineyards around the lake and amazing hiking spots. I think I did the Seneca lake wineries.

I've been to a bachelorette on Cape Cod and we had a blast!! We went out to some great bars and restaurants and did a big beach day on Saturday. 🌊

I'd definitely recommend the Cape, but it would be more difficult to do a day trip from there. All the traffic is getting on and off the Cape!

I went to a bach in Newport and parts of it were fun. The least fun part was at the time, AirBnBs were small and pricey, so I paid a lot of money to sleep on a full sized air mattress with two other girls. But we had a great time at a winery. Also, something good to know is the bars in RI close super early compared to NY. Another thing that was also not fun was one of the girls insisting we go back to the house after our 8 pm dinner to "rest up" and "pregame" (no one drank and no one rested) before the bars. We made it to one bar for 45 minutes before last call.

Another fun idea would be Eastern CT—you can rent a house in Mystic and hit up the great bars and dining there, book a car service to go to Foxwoods (amazing casino with lots of fun, girly bars and restaurants, outlet shopping, TopGolf, concerts, bowling, go karts, escape rooms and more), go hiking in Groton or Waterford, book a boating excursion through Mystic Boating Adventures, Jonathan Edwards and/or Stonington Vineyards winery...I think it checks off all your boxes and is a very reasonable drive from NYC as long as you don't leave after 12 pm on a Friday during the summer Smiley winking
