Bachelorette Memorial Day weekend

Jassel, on February 2, 2017 at 2:11 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 9

So after deciding and picking Memorial Day weekend to spend in Austin for my bachelorette my FH and mom said it was the worst time to travel since it's a holiday weekend. Which I agree but I also think it would be fun to be around a lot of people. They said I should consider choosing another date. But my sister (also my MOH) who's planning it already sent out an email saying we were going Memorial day weekend. So now I'm contemplating changing the dates.

What should I do?? Please help.

I went to a bachelorette party on labor day weekend and it sucked. It sucked for traveling and usually we go camping that weekend. I think holiday weekends are the worst time to plan any sort of party. I think change it!

A lot of people have standing plans that holiday (tons of people I know go camping or to the lake every single year), so it may decrease your guest list as is. Flights will also be more expensive which could also decrease the yes RSVPs. If it were me, I would probably change the date, especially if many of my friends would have to buy plane tickets. What about the weekend before or after?

Not only does traveling suck that weekend, but everything is always SO much more expensive. I would do it for you if I was in your bridal party, but I wouldn't be happy about it. I think you should seriously consider moving the date. I went to a bach party that was in a huge summer tourist spot the weekend after labor day and it was awesome. Less crowds to fight through at the bars, but still summer weather and so.much.cheaper.

I'm doing my bachelorette party Memorial Day weekend, don't see a problem with it. I usually go to Jamaica every memorial and always have a blast, shouldn't be any different

Thank you everyone. Do you think having the bachelorette party in June is too early if i'm getting married in October??

Cons: more expensive, more crowded, more declines due to other plans.

Pro: can have a longer weekend without using vacation days.

I went to a Vegas bachelorette for my MOH over Memorial Day weekend last year-super expensive to fly, traffic to/from the airport was a nightmare, but I did it because she's my bff and I love her. I would have booked a flight to mars that weekend if she asked me to. That being said, because I had that experience, i would avoid asking the same of my friends/family if I can.

OP I went to a June bach for a late September wedding, so i think that's fine. It actually spaces out the cost for those attending the party and your wedding, which is always a plus in my book.
