Bachelorette party..am i asking too much?

Erin, on April 28, 2020 at 1:21 PM Posted in Parties and Events 0 11
Originally I had planned just to have my bachelorette party in Austin, Tx. I live in Dallas so it would be close and my maid of honor lives in Austin as well. My wedding is small so I only have one person in my wedding party (maid of honor) therefore it will only be me and her on this trip. Recently she messaged me saying she had some time open up so we could go on a much more awesome trip and recommended Mexico or key west. We then decided on Destin and me being the person I am jumped on looking at Airbnb’s and flights. The Airbnb that I found it on the beach and comes to about $750 for four nights. Flights around $200 each. I already purchased the Airbnb and then said we could just split everything down the middle. Now I fear I am asking too much of her. I’ve never been to a bachelorette party before so I don’t really know the amount people spend. Also, I feel because she offered the idea of going some place bigger that it is okay. Any advice?

I think since she suggested the more pricey trip it should be fine, but you probably should have waited for her to confirm those prices before booking the Airbnb.

With all the expenses of the typical bachelorette, most of the ones I’ve been to were around $1-2k. My bachelorette cost my girls around $**** (my non-bridesmaid guests probably spent around $****). My (amazing) MOH spent close to $5k I believe (she paid for everyone’s hotel stay). The next bachelorette I’m attending is in Austin, TX so most of the girls are flying in. The Airbnb is around $450 per person for the trip (3 nights).

Wow! That must have been a wonderful trip! Okay that makes me feel a little better. I did send her the Airbnb before I paid for it and she was like “ yes!” so she saw it would be $120 a night. Just as you know..Airbnb has so many other charges. I did discuss the price of the plane ticket first as well saying it would be $177 but it came out to be $203. I think I just worry

It was in Vegas so our table/bottle services was pretty pricey. Lol.

Oh then yeah, you’re totally fine! As long as she confirmed she was okay with the prices, you shouldn’t worry too much. I do agree though with getting her a nice gift for the wedding. The MOH does sooo much throughout the wedding planning and day of.

I feel like most people know the expense going into asking to be a bridesmaid. If you’re splitting it, great! I would just have an open and honest conversation with her. Make sure you guys are on the same page. If you’re close enough for her to be your MOH, it should be an easier conversation.

Do you know her financial situation? If she's doing ok and she suggested a bigger trip then don't worry. Smiley smile

    WOW.

That had to have been some trip. I've done cruises and all inclusive resorts, heck even Europe for less than $1500....

It was in Vegas during summer/peak season. We did a show and nice dinner one night and that was around $300 per person. Most of my girlfriends flew from Southern California (2 flew from East Coast) so flights were around another $200-250. They rented out a cabana for a day club (encore beach club) on Saturday and since they weren’t doing comp tables (they rarely do especially when they have a hot resident DJ like the chainsmokers), the cabana came out to around $7k. Plus all the snacks, swag, decor, alcohol for the room and about two additional meals. My girls definitely went balls to the walls for my bachelorette though and it might not be the norm, but might just be our circle of friends. I’ve spent close to $1000 on a bridal shower which I wasn’t even a bridesmaid. 😂

We did get a free table one night which saved us money. And my husband paid for one of our brunches as a bachelorette gift to us. Haha

I think that you probably should've waited to hear her budget first but since she suggested a more elaborate trip I guess it's ok. What was her reaction to the price.?

Either way enjoy your trip. and congrats!
