Bachelorette party- cheap ideas please?

Shellie, on June 28, 2012 at 1:47 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 29

My MOH decided I need to have a Bachelorette party, along with my shower. I know I should be excited, but quit frankly I'm afraid it will just be a disappointment. Though my sister worked so hard on all the food for my shower and it was beautiful, no one else cared.

If I start caring about the Bach party I'm going to be disappointed when no one else cares.

My BM don't have any money- there is no way they can afford to come, let alone pay for, my Bachelorette party. We were originally thinking pole dancing classes or a burlesque show, but those all cost $30-50. The only way my BM could come is if it is no more then maybe $10. And I am more then willing to pay my own way.

Anyone have fun, cheap ideas that are still sort of Back party like?

I think we're going bar hopping for mine, but I'm sure it's going to be more than $10 a head. For under $10, you guys could probably do a girls night in? Maybe a "slumber party" theme, BYOB?

I would maybe just grab dinner, and some bar hoping if you don't want to be disappointed Smiley smile .. might not be too much cheaper though. Then you could do some of those Bach games, Scavenger hunt types or what not!

You can always do a get together at someone house have snacks and play games. If you would like I could send you some games that I found that I think would be fun.

Wait, none of your BMs can afford more than $10? Or is it only one that can't afford more than that? I'd say a bar scavenger hunt (avoid places with cover) -- whoever can afford to drink drinks, and most people have either a digital camera or phone with a camera.

The slumber party idea is a good one, too. Maybe a day at the beach? Swim some, tan some, walk the little touristy shops some -- this only works if you're near the beach already, though.

Yeah, the slumber party idea is good.

"surprise parties" (adult toy parties) are FREE ~ and they are fun. The sales rep can be very funny, you play games, win prizes. No requirements to buy stuff. (but she is very discrete if you do wish to get something - sets up in a separate room for her "store" and gives everyone their items in a paper bag)

The bachelorette party I was at, the bride checked off what she would like, and we were all able to look at the list and decide if we wanted to buy something for her off the list and/or something for ourself.

I agree with girls night in. I am lucky enough that my MOH's parents have a beach house near here that they are letting us use for the weekend for free. However, I know most of my friends are strapped for cash so the first night we are going to the boardwalk which is free admittance with a free concert on the beach so it becomes spend as little or as much as you would like. The second night, we are going to stay in the beach house and play games... I love board games so we are splitting up the party into teams and making a fun competition out of the games. Girls night in is always a ton of fun and cheap!

I'm not really a bar hopping type girl, hence the previous ideas of seeing a show or taking a pole dancing class.

I just want people to want to go to my shower, I don't care as much about what we do, as long as people want to do it with me.

Sadly we don't really have anyone's house we could go to. I live with my dad still, and my sisters apt is TINY.

And though we live near the beach, it's the cold WA beaches.

And yes, it's multiple BM's that could only afford $10. and that is stretching it. They don't have jobs.

My sis/MOH says that if they can't come up with the money that is their problem, not ours- but I don't see the point of doing a party if my friends can't come.

Girls night in if you arent a bar going type of girl!

every one comes to some ones house, get some wine, stuff to do nails and a at home spa, some snacks, a card or board game! maybe rent a chick flick?

some idea's for at home spa are:

    home made facial masks

home made body scrub ( i did these for a baby shower favor so easy to do)

    nail polish & tools

    hair treatments made at home

Me and me girlfriends used to do stuff like this all the time and we would have a blast. Dance around to bad 80's music and just hang out! most important thing is having your girlfriends there and having fun!

Funny you say that.... the bachelorette party I was at, was IN an apartment!!!!

    and it was small.

Everyone sat on the floor except the bride and her MOH.... the "shop" was set up in the bedroom

I was going to suggest a slumber party as well but if you don't have anywhere to do it, that kind of puts a damper on that idea. Any chance your dad would be willing to hide out in his room for a night so you could have a fun night with the girls? I like Hayley's idea of an adult toy party as well. That could be lots of fun...but you'd need to find a place to hold that as well. Maybe the rep would have ideas as to where?

Honestly I've been to an adult party before, not really my cup of tea.

I'll ask my dad about disappearing. We know he will be away for work sometime next month, but we aren't sure when, and we have to do the Bach party the weekend before the wedding because that is the only time all my BM will be there.

If you're aiming to have a fun Girl's Night Out, I recommend getting a hotel suite for the night, that's not bad once you split it up among your girls.

Bring a white t-shirt and buy a pack of Sharpies and have a decorate party before you go to town

www.partycheap.com is also a good resource

@Hayley C. GOOD idea! My friend "hosted" one of these while we were in college and SOOOO many people showed up. It was lots of fun. I didn't even think of that. I should totally tell my MOH to set one up for me! LMAO

Could you do a photo scavenger hunt during the day, then? Maybe end it by going to get some ice cream? If the adult party and bar hopping aren't your thing, this might be a good, fun, cheap way to include everyone.

We had a Mary Kay party to start off with (free), which meant that we got to get all pampered and do our makeup and whatnot. Then we got dressed up and went to applebees for appetizers to share (about $5 per person), then we went out to a club (people could spend as much or as little as they wanted)

My sister doesn't drink at all and would have hated a typical bach party, so we went to a local museum and dinner and a movie. The museum was free, and the movie was probably a little more than 10 but you could do something like that?

Why not just go bar hopping to bars without cover. Anyone who can afford drinks can buy then those who can't can still come hang out and maybe have a few drinks first. Then you can dance, wear a stupid veil and have a girly time.

it doesn't have to be expensive to be fun. Id' be happy just playing "girl talk" that 90's game and drinking wine.
