Bachelorette Party Ideas? (San Diego or Catalina)

Christina, on March 9, 2016 at 4:13 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 16

I'm planning my friend's bachelorette party and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what we could plan to do during a weekend stay? Thank you!

I personally recommend San Diego over Catalina. While Catalina is fun, there isn't much to do and a lot of places close early. If you choose San Diego check out snooze (the best breakfast ever!)

That's what I was thinking, plus the cost to boat over there! I think San Diego would be fun. Thanks for the restaurant tip! @amber!

Haha! Thanks for the stepbrothers reference!

Although, I did just google it! Apparently they had their first annual wine mixer last year! Lol

DH just took me to Catalina for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and it was very romantic, don't think it's great for a bachelorette party, unless you wanted to do spa days. We had the best massage and the most delicious bloody mary's ever! They have pretty great happy hours if you do choose to go that route. Smiley smile

The MOH is under 21, so nothing too serious lol. The bride is pretty laid back so I think she would enjoy one of those locations for sure. I love bloody Mary's! I had one in Long Beach, it was a meal in itself! Lol

I had lots of options until you said the MOH is not 21. That sucks.

Hmmm, I was actually thinking of doing my bachelorette at Catalina Island.... I've never been and thought it could be fun?? I assume the few bars there stay open late? Now I'm having doubts, haha.

@lindsey I think it more of a sleepy town, I don't think a lot of bars stay open late, but I could be wrong!

San Diego has lots of fun things to do during the day! My personal favorite is the zoo! There's also a lot of breweries (if you like beer) and I think for the tours you don't have to be 21, only if you're drinking!

I looked it up and there are at least 3 bars open late on Catalina Smiley smile I figure that, and some chill time exploring the island and laying by the beach or pool will be plenty for me, haha.

Downtown San Diego there is a country bar called Double Deuce and they host bachelorette parties called "cowgirls last ride" with a mechanical bull Smiley smile basically any bar/club in the Gaslamp Quarter!

Catalina will be more expensive for everything! I lived in Two Harbors for a while and all the locals buy everything off the island and bring it in. I don't know as much about Avalon though. I'd suggest San Diego.

San diego is always awesome. So many options. A lot of the places open late are going to be 21+ though. Double deuce is cool if they allow 18+(not sure if they do or not). The shout house is always a good time as well! It's a dueling piano bar and any bachelor/ette/bday party there is extra fun! Groupon always has catalina boat trips for cheap so if you decide to go that route, check it out. Lots of great restaurants in sd, Lou and mickeys, melting pot, etc. Just depends what you're going for. Also the Hilton Bayfront is a great hotel with an awesome view.
